Christmas Card Challenge Week #30

Hi everyone!

Have you had a good weekend?  This weekend has been absolutely insane.  I feel like I've been running around like a crazy woman.  I thought weekends were supposed to be relaxing. lol

Anyway, enough about my craziness.  This week's Christmas Card challenge is to incorporate your favorite Christmas song into your card.  For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

Now, I know this color combo is not the traditional colors you'd find on most Christmas cards, but I love it!  And, I'm sure by now you know how I am about my non-traditional Christmas cards.  I found this website called Kuler Color Combos, and it's FANTASTIC!  They have the most awesome combos that are thought up by members, and shared with all of us.  I highly recommend a visit if you're ever having a problem trying to start a project.  With this color combo, my card also fits into this weeks OCCC color challenge.  This card is my take on THIS sketch and THIS sketch.  They were pretty similar, so I used them to put my card together.  I like the results.

I hope you'll head over to the challenge blog to see what my friends have created for you this week.  They're all pretty great!

Have a great Sunday!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #29

Hey ya'll!

So sorry, but this is going to be a short post.  This weeks Christmas card challenge is a recipe challenge.

For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

I used THIS sketch, and totally love the way my card turned out, with the exception of the red snowflake.  After posting this photo, I realized that it didn't look as nice as I was hoping.  But, that's how I incorporated my transparency for the challenge.

I hope you'll head over to see what fabulous creations are posted!

Have a great day!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #28

Hello again!

I still cannot believe how fast time goes by these days.  Here we are at another Sunday already!  Is anyone else feeling like the year is seriously going by all too fast?  Wow!  Since it's Sunday again, I have another Christmas card challenge for you.  This week the challenge is to create a Christmas card using scraps.

For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

My entire card is made up of scraps.  I challenged myself to only use cardstock.  I've got entirely too many scraps of cardstock that I'm not using.  The beads on the yellow flourish were stitched on.  In real life they're sparkly and give a bit of dimension without adding a lot of bulk.  I love the new flourish stamps I got last week at Scrappers Boutique too.

Hopefully, you'll get time to join us for this weeks challenge.  I know we've all got scraps we can use up.  :)

Have a great day!

Friend

Hi everyone!

I tried to have something posted for every day this week, but I missed it.  Guess I'll have to try next week. :)

This is a card idea I've had in my head for a while.  Isn't it cute?

I got the chipboard owl from my friend Adair, and even though I'm not a huge owl fan, I like this one.  I brushed on and heat set three layers of crackle paint.  I then sponged on some ink, embossed a flourish on her body, and outlined her eyes and nose or beak.  Love how the crackle paint gives her some texture and I love these colors together.  I'm going to submit this for Embellish Magazine's challenge.  The colors were yellow, coral and brown.  Loving the accomplished feeling I get from tying a bow these days.  I know, I'm easily amused. lol

Love You, Dad

Hi everyone!

I know what you're thinking, three posts in a week?!  Yes, yes it is!  For some reason, once my creative juices got flowing the other night, I just couldn't stop!  I created three projects in one evening.  Talk about finally getting back to paper crafting! lol

This is a card I made for Stephen.  I'm going to have Mikey sign his name and give it to him, along with the page I made for him way back when.

I love the digital paper I used from Dawn McVey's PTI digi goodies I found.  It was perfect for this card, and it fit within the color combo I wanted to use.  Nice and simple.  My card just happens to fit into the below challenges.

Color Chef #54 - Cream (I subbed for white), Turquoise, Dark Brown, Kraft
Corossive Challenge #67 - Die Cuts (The file folder is a Tim Holts die)
Simple Doodles #9 - Just 4 You Dad
Cards for Men #12 - Father's Day
CCEE Challenge - For the Males

Thanks for stopping by again!  I hope you've entered to win my blog candy!

Her Father's Eyes

Hi everyone!

Just a quick post today to share a layout I did recently.  I used some of my new goodies from Scrappers Boutique for this layout.  I recently decided to try out the whole Glimmer Mist thing.  I was on the fence about them, but they're actually easy to use, and leave a cool sparkle to everything.  I think it's pretty cool.  I left the layout quite simple as I didn't want it to look too cluttered on top of the embossed cardstock.

You can't really see in the photo but my daughter, Sydney, has blue eyes.  Now, there's a small story behind that, and why I'm obsessed with them being blue. lol  Being half Hispanic, I was raised around dark hair and dark eyes my whole life.  Yes, there are blue and green eyed cousins on my mom's side, but no one in my immediate family has anything other than brown eyes.  When I found out I was pregnant, I started hoping and praying that my child would have blue eyes like his/her daddy.  I prayed, and prayed, and hoped and hoped some more for a healthy child of course, but all I wanted was blue eyes.  I know, sounds really neurotic, but that's what I wanted.  The night that my daughter was born, they laid her in my arms for the first time and she looked up at me with the biggest, deepest blue eyes I had ever seen.  My mother told me that most babies were born with blue eyes and that they'd probably turn brown because of my Hispanic background.  As she got older, her eyes stayed the same color, never once changing.  They're fiery, and as crystal deep blue as those photos of the Hawaiian waters you see in photos.  Now, I know I'm biased, but they're absolutely gorgeous, and I couldn't be happier for getting the one, ok two things, I really wanted.  A healthy, blue eyed baby. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

It's Been A While...

...since I've given away some blog candy!

I have been collecting a few things lately.  There are some things I had duplicates of, and some things I bought specifically to give to one of you.  Since I haven't been posting much lately, but haven't lost many followers or subscribers, I figured I'd put together something nice in appreciation for all of you who continue to follow and subscribe.  I hope that as things at work calm down, and I get more time, I will be posting regularly again.  So, ready to hear about what you could win?

Included are items from American Crafts, Imaginisce, Bo Bunny, Ranger, Prima, My Favorite Things and Pink Paislee.

So here's the deal.  All you have to do is link your blog below, by June 18th, in the Mr. Linky box to be entered.  On June 19th I'll have my handy dandy helper Random.org choose a lucky winner.  That's it!  Thanks a bunch to all of you who continue to be supportive even though I don't have much to share these days.  Hugs to all!

Much love,

Christmas Card Challenge Week #27

Happy Sunday ya'll!

I'm excited to bring you another Christmas Card challenge!  Our head elf, Sparkle, is really busy so she asked me to help out and this is my first week doing so.  I hope you enjoy this challenge, and the challenges we'll be putting together for you every week. We've got several ideas and sketches from the other designers that I cannot wait to share with you!  I love how wonderful the ideas are coming from everyone.  Ok, so now onto this weeks challenge.  This week we'd like to see you cut something out and pop it up.

For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

I'm disappointed that you can't see the dimension of my Christmas tree that well.  I stamped it in black, onto kraft cardstock, then cut it out and popped it up.  It's also sparkly.  I traced the flourishes with my Sakura Stardust pen.  I used Jen's sketch for you to try from last Saturday and tried to include a color challenge from last week also, but can't remember which.  I hadn't used my Scor Pal in a while, so I decided it was time to dust it off.  I created the background with it.  I think there was another challenge I had in mind that required you to use a heart somewhere on your card, so I used it to kind of sort of, frame my sentiment.  Oh, and stitching for another challenge (I feaux stitched).  It's not normally like me to forget stuff like what challenges I've combined into my cards, but I misplaced my notes, and was a bit lazy to look them all up again.  I like how non-traditional my card looks, as a Christmas card.

So, what do you think?  Will you be able to join us for this weeks challenge?  Why not start on your Christmas cards early?  This way you won't be rushing around at the end of the year when you could be doing other things.  Things like baking cookies.  Yeah!  Yum-o!

Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs!
