Christmas Card Challenge Week #26

It's Sunday!  I hope everyone is enjoying their extended weekend.  I know I sure am!  I'm SO excited that I get to sleep in tomorrow, again, and then celebrate my sweetheart's birthday.  It's going to be an awesome day!

This week's Christmas Card challenge was a bit rough for me.  I realized about half way through the week that I didn't have any fabric and didn't want to use another felt flower, which is what the challenge is.  Using felt or fabric on your cards.  So, I ran over to Scrappers Boutique during lunch, and picked up some of this pretty American Crafts adhesive backed fabric paper.  Problem solved!

Being the non-traditionalist that I am, I decided that these were perfect for my card.  I used tons of new goodies.  At first I wasn't thrilled about the frayed edges, but then decided to make all of the edges frayed, so they looked a bit distressed.  I added a ribbon ruffle (thanks Adair!) and called it done.  I've combined this challenge with Nutshells Challenge #16, which is to use polka dots & stripes.  I'm actually quite pleased with the distressed look of everything.

I hope you'll head over to the challenge blog and see what my fellow DT friends have put together for you today.

I hope you have a great day!

Time For A Layout!

Hi ya'll!

So, it's been a bit since I created more than a card.  With that in mind, I thought I would take advantage of the extra quiet time I had a couple of evenings this week, and create a layout.  I'm slowly putting some of my older pictures on pages for our family album.  The emphasis in that sentence is on slowly.  lol  I was excited to use some new goodies I got at Scrappers Boutique.

I really like how well the Bo Bunny and Pink Paislee lines coordinated for this layout.  Aren't these colors fantastic together?!  At first, I was a bit skeptical, but at the end I was totally happy with everything.  I love how the black in the middle of the page pops against everything else.  I embossed the chipboard wings, after spraying them with Shimmerz, and then cut out a flower to create dimension.  I've combined the below challenges into this page.  What do ya think?  I like it! :)

Stampin Royalty Challenge #21 - Rich Razzleberry, Certainly Celery, Pretty In Pink (I think I'm close enough)
Twisted Sketch #051 - Twist: New!  Anyhow, any way! (everything on my page is new)
Your Next Stamp Challenge #17 - Border Punches. (hope they don't mind I did a layout, lol)
Simple Doodles Challenge #18 - Anything but a card.

Alright, that's all for me today.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs!

Ever have one of those days?

Where you start the washing machine, and forget to load your clothes?  Um, yeah.  That's me yesterday. lol  I got home from work, and sorted clothes, because I was too lazy to do all of my laundry on Sunday, and then forgot to finish.  I got busy with a work call, and dinner, and decided I was too stressed to do anything but put together a quick card for a friend.  I got up this morning to get ready for work and was in the process of cooking breakfast when I realized that the washing machine had been sitting all night, full of water and laundry detergent.  So, I ran it, without clothes, and decided to just let it go.  I guess the silver lining to that whole situation is this.

I wanted something clean and simple for the layout, and challenged myself to use white space.  The only thing on this card that took more than a minute or two to put together were the flowers.  They were stamped with Very Vanilla craft ink onto Rich Razzleberry and Kraft cardstock, embossed with clear embossing powder, and cut out.  I'm pretty happy with this card, and I love the little pop of green on the leaves.  I'm going to use this for Corrosive Challenge #65, clean and simple.  This is for someone near and dear to my heart, just because.  I hope she likes it!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #25

Happy Sunday, again!

Wow, how time seems to fly by so quickly!  Here we are at another Sunday.  I'm in a bit of a hurry, so I'm sorry this is going to be short.  Spark's challenge this week was to only use a sentiment on your card.

For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

I forgot I had this stamp, and it fit perfectly inside of my new Nesties.  I should have turned it into an ornament.  Eh, hindsight is 20/20.  I wanted to keep it simple, and THIS sketch helped with that.  I do love those emboss resist polka dots!

I hope you'll head over to the challenge blog to see the other fabulous cards posted today.  Maybe you'll even get a headstart on your own Christmas cards for this year. :)

Have a great day!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #24

Hi everyone!

I hope you've had as wonderful a weekend as I have!  I worked at Scrappers Boutique on Friday, and got to visit with the beautiful and fabulous Jen Del Muro and Susan Liles again.  Then yesterday, I cropped the day away with my group of gal friends.  We try to get together the third Saturday of every month to catch up and have fun.  I can't even begin to tell you how much I {heart} those ladies!  They truly bless my life.  I am happy to report that I have totally finished my sisters revamped engagement album.  I was hoping to do so and now I can return it to them.  I hope they like it!

I have another Christmas card challenge project for you today too!  This weeks challenge was to use a snowman on our cards.  I love snowmen!  Not as much as butterflies, but still. :)  For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

I've had this adorable image from Dustin Pike in my digi stash for a while now.  I never really knew where to use it, so I just used it on my card.  I know what you're thinking, and yes, I had a duh moment about it. lol  I had recently been debating about selling all of my Copic markers.  I wasn't using them as often as I should, and thought they were becoming a waste of money.  That was until this past week.  I got the opportunity to play with them a lot, and have decided that I am going to keep them.  I now know what it will take for them to become a part of my everyday crafting, and will definitely incorporate them more.  Anyway, I just got some Liquid Applique and decided to mix it with my stickles to create the snow beneath their feet.  In real life, the snow is sparkly.  Looking at it now, I should have filled in the blank space at the bottom with snow as well.  I may have to go back and do that now.  The paper in the background with the whites, blues and yellows is an awesome sheet of Bo Bunny patterned paper that kind of looks like a stained glass window.  I will have to look for the name of the paper line and let you know.  It's beautiful stuff!

I can't wait for you to see the cards the other DT members have created for you today.  They're all pretty cute with the snowmen.  Think you'll get a chance to join us for this weeks challenge?  I sure hope so!

Have a great day!
Hugs!

Dream

Hi everyone!

While staying in this weekend, I was able to finish most of the pages I'm re-doing in my sisters engagement album.  I've got two more to go and I'm done.  I haven't really shared any of them because I hadn't had time to take pictures, and I didn't really want her to see any of the new and improved pages yet (she reads my blog).  But, this one is for a cool new challenge blog I found thanks to one of my YouTube subscriptions.  Here is my take on Posh Designs Sketch Challenge #14.

I'm sorry that the colors are a bit washed out.  It was overcast yesterday when I took the photo, and this was the best one I could get.  I love this picture and wanted to do something really pretty for it.  You can't tell, because the colors are washed out, but I stamped all of those flowers in the bottom right using the rock and roll technique from Stampin Up! with two colors of blue, before I cut them out.  There is a nice, dark blue edge to all of them.  The bling in the centers of the small flowers are also dark blue, to match the polka dots on the circle panel.

Well, it's back to work today, and I'm sure I have tons of stuff to catch up on having been gone for half a day on Friday.  I hope you have a wonderful week!

Hugs!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #23

Good day to all!

How is everyone today?  Happy Mother's Day to all of you mom's out there!  I hope you have a wonderful day filled with joy and happiness, spent with family and friends.

Today brings us to another Christmas Card challenge.  This week is another sketch, and I'm hosting again.  If all continues to go this way, it looks as if I'll be hosting all of the sketch challenges. lol  It's a fabulous sketch that Sparkle created for us this week.

For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

I really like this weeks sketch, and I had fun creating my card.  I just got this gorgeous cream and light brown damask patterned paper and I absolutely love how it looks on this card.  I also got some of these gorgeous felt flowers from Maya Road not too long ago and thought it would work well with the idea I had for the sketch.  I cut out a circle with my Nestabilities and then popped the panel up a bit to create some dimension.  This is another smaller card, and it's bulky because of the flower, so I will also use this with a matching gift bag for a gift.

There are some really nice cards that my fellow designers have created for you today.  I hope you'll get the chance to stop by the challenge blog and check them out.  Maybe you'll join us for this weeks challenge too.

Have a wonderful day!
Much love,

Mother's Day Card

Hi ya'll!

It's a warm day out, and I'm home sick, kinda.  I've had a cough for over a month now, and what I thought were allergies at first has turned out to be something very different.  Did you know that whooping cough is still around?  Well, to my surprise, I have it.  They thought I might have had a touch of walking pneumonia, but the chest X-rays came back clean, which is good.  Anyway, the good thing is that I'm not contagious anymore, alghough they did suggest not hugging or getting too close to people for the next few days.  Unfortunately, it takes about three months for whooping cough to run its course.  I guess I'm two months closer to the end.  The doctor gave me a shot of steroids, some antibiotics, and a note for work and told me to go home.  So, here I sit.  Crafing a bit, and taking work calls when they come in.  I can't complain as I'm enjoying the quiet.  It also means I get a two and a half day weekend.  Yay!

So this is the card I created for Stephen's mom for Mother's Day.  This is what I consider clean and simple, and I love it.  You know how I am about my butterflies.  lol

Since I've got something that could be contagious, I have decided to stay home on Sunday.  Stephen's mom has lupus of the liver and is on constant doses of chemo to keep her white blood cells from attacking her liver.  This causes her immune system to always be on the low side, and I would hate to give her something that could harm her worse than what she's got going on already.  I also canceled my plans with Stephen for this weekend, since he will be with her on Sunday.  It's a bummer, but I would never risk her health.  I just hope she knows how much I care about her, and enjoys her card.

I hope you have a fantastic Friday!
Hugs!

Addiction

Addiction is a word that I take very seriously.  I don't use it that often, and even though I know several people who have a problem with addiction, I am proud to say that I'm not that kind of person.  You see, my mom told us when we were growing up that if you're not old enough to buy it, you're not old enough to do it.  This, of course, was in reference to cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, and we were absolutely forbade to even think about attempting anything illegal.  I've been a good girl.  I don't drink alcohol (at all) and I don't smoke, or do drugs.  I never have.  Unfortunately, I am not able to say that I'm addiction free after finding these babies!

Now, I know they have all different kinds of varieties of these, but I'm not a chocolate fan (really, I'm not).  I know, the horror!  These however are vanilla flavored and are the most divine things I have ever tasted.  I'm not sure if it's the paper thin wafer cookie rolled up to be the container for the soft, delicious, creamy, rich, vanilla filling, or if it's the filling itself.  Either way, I am unable to control myself and have eaten almost two tins of these things since Saturday.  I bought three tins because I was going to put one on my desk at work, to share, but that is SO NOT HAPPENING anymore!!  These sweet, divine little treats are all mine!  Have any of you had these?  If not, I highly recommend finding some!  If you become addicted, like I am, I cannot be held responsible whatsoever.  I've got my own addiction for these things going on.  So, now that I've interrupted with this little addiction thing, you may now return to your regularly scheduled blog surfing. :)

Have a great evening!

Christmas Card Challenge #22

Hi everyone!

I am so sorry it has been such a long time since I've posted anything.  It has been one crazy week!  I've had very little time to create anything crafty.  This post is very late as I had some trouble finding the time to photograph my card, and then the weather wasn't cooperating that great either.  Alas, I finally have a good picture of my card for this weeks Christmas Card challenge.  This week we have an inspiration photo, and we are including bows on our projects.

For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

You're probably wondering why my card looks the way it does.  I'd like to explain.  I was recently challenged by a friend to create a Christmas card that's outside of my comfort zone, and using the colors you see.  At first, I wasn't exactly sure I was interested, because this looks more like a spring card than a Christmas card.  As I continued to put it together though, I started to love how out of the box it became.  I used last weeks Mojo Monday sketch, and this is my result.  I have to say that I really like the round card, and that it's so different for being a Christmas card.  The spring colors make me happy too!  It's smaller than normal, so I think I'm going to use it with a matching gift bag, instead of mailing it.  What do you think?

I hope you'll head over to the challenge blog to see what everyone else has created for you today.  Hopefully, you'll find time to join us for this weeks challenge.  I'm always so excited to see what you create!

Have a fantastic Sunday!
Hugs!
