Hi everyone!
I'm SO stinkin excited to be back in full swing, creating projects again. I didn't realize how much the process of creating calms me down. January was a long, eventful, and busy month, but it's over now, and I can focus on being crafty a lot more. I've missed all of you very much and I am thankful that you have been patient with me in my absence. I'm sad to have lost a few subscribers, and followers, but it's to be expected I'd assume. No worries, there will be lots of crafty goodness to come! I can't wait to share everything with you! Enough rambling, it's time to get to my project for today.

I got this cute little guy from my mom for Christmas, and this is the first time I've inked him up. Isn't he adorable?! I took the colors from the inspiration photo on Sparkle's blog and used them for my card. You can't tell in the photo, but the background paper is glittered and sparkly, like the glitter on the ornaments. I'm really quite happy. My card has lots of dimension to it, I used lots of pop dots. I've also included this weeks OCC challenge, which was to use something music related in your project.
I hope you have a great Sunday! I'm off to create more projects. :)
"My love for you is like a circle, it has no end."
I'm so excited about today's post. Not too long ago I was chosen as a winner for a ColorQ challenge, and was asked to be a guest designer for today's challenge. I'm totally stoked about it! For this weeks challenge, the colors Arielle chose are Real Red, Taken With Teal, Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Basic Black. When I saw the inspiration piece chosen, I thought Asian, but my card didn't turn out exactly how I pictured it in my head.
For this weeks challenge, click HERE.
My photo is a bit washed out also, sorry about that. The weather has been less than cooperative lately, and I had to go with what I could get. You can barely see the emboss resist bamboo background on the main focal panel that I sponged with Bashful Blue and Taken With Teal. It's really pretty up close.
I hope you'll head over to the ColorQ blog to see the other guest designer's card, and Arielle's amazingly beautiful card also. They're both fantastic!
Have a great day!
Hi ya'll!
I've really missed everything related to paper crafting and was dying to create something. Shame on work interfering with my hobby. I just wanted to post quick with something that I have been working on for quite some time now. I'm not sure if you remember, but I got a Flip video camera a few months back, but hadn't really used it for anything. I decided that I was going to put together a video for you guys, and it has finally happened. There is music to the video as I can't stand the sound of my voice, but it's cool music. lol The video is very elementary, and I plan on improving things as I go along, so bear with me. I wouldn't be surprised if you find more and more videos posted along with my projects. I always welcome any suggestions, or comments in regards to what you guys think, so let me know! I will be back later to post pictures of the finished card. I didn't get a chance to take a pic of it before it got dark.
You can watch the video HERE.
And here is my card.
I'm not totally happy with the lighting in my photo, but at least you get to see the card up close, since I forgot to zoom in on it at the end in the video. I'm going to submit this for the challenges listed below.
Taylored Expressions #98 - Sketch
Just Us Girls #16 - Color Challenge: Burgundy, Blush, Vanilla, Gray (there are flowers in the background patterned paper that are blush colored, but you can't see them very well)
Humble Pie #3 - 2 Types of Bling
Raise The Bar's First Challenge - Use Something New (The pearls and Damask stamp are new)
Have a great day!
Well, the temporary world we had been living in anyway. lol
So, after almost a year and a half with very little sleep, or time to do anything but work and go to school, Stephen has finally graduated! He is now a certified mechanic! I'm SO proud of him! He's the only one in his class to graduate with a 4.0 GPA and with 100% attendance. He is also the only who's graduated with an awesome job waiting for him. I couldn't be happier for him, and I know he's really excited to get started doing what he loves to do, being a grease monkey. So, a huge congratulations goes out to him! I know he'll do awesome!
Thanks for letting me show some love for my sweetheart!
Hugs!
P.S. If anyone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area needs a good mechanic, he's working M-F at the National Tire & Battery over by Grapevine Mills Mall. :)
Good Monday to all!
I just wanted to stop by quick to announce that I've been chosen to be on the Frosted Designs design team. I love their challenges, and am honored to have been chosen to be a part of such a wonderful, talented group of designers. Frosted Designs is a weekly challenge blog, posting challenges on Friday's. I am still out of pocket, as far as crafting goes, so my first project for them won't be posted until Friday, February 5th. I hope you'll head over to the Frosted Designs blog to check them out and see who else has been chosen for their rockin DT.
Have a wonderful day!
"He's not heavy, he's my brother."
So today's post over at Unscripted Sketches features the first, and only sketch, I've ever created. Even though I've taken time off from both of my DT's, it didn't feel right not to participate today. So, I made time to create this morning.
I know you've seen several posts about my little sister, but I also have a little brother. In all honesty, I don't really have as many pictures of my brother as I do my sister. Sadly, I don't get to see him as often. Upon going through an old box of photos I found in my closet, I came across this picture. It's one of my brother's graduation pictures. As you can see, he looks a lot like my mother's side of the family. And, he's the fortunate one who inherited the awesome metabolism, and lots of height. Lucky him! lol
I started off with something totally different in my head, but then wound up with a more simple layout. I wanted to focus more on the picture, than everything else on the page. You can't tell from the picture, but the photo and white matte open on the right side to reveal my journaling on the green matte. I'm really happy that I was finally able to create something with my handsome little brother in it. :)
I hope you'll head over to Unscripted Sketches to see my sketch (and what the fabulous DT have created from it), and join us this week. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. I'm sure it will be as fabulous as always!
Much love,
Hey everyone!
I hope all is well with you! I just wanted post this quick and let you know that Unscripted Sketches now has a fan page on Facebook. You can visit HERE! By no means must you run over and join Facebook, but if you're already a member, why not become a fan? You never know what kinds of fun things we'll come up with! :)
Have a wonderful day!
"Love can hope where reason would despair."
When I browsed through the list of challenge blogs I frequent, I noticed that there was a monochromatic challenge posted. I LOVE monochromatic projects so I couldn't wait to come up with something. On Saturday evening, I went cropping with my gals, and boy was it nice to do that after months of having nowhere to crop together. It was like a reunion of sorts. I'm so blessed to have them, and to consistently be able to make new friends. Have I mentioned how much I love this hobby of ours?
So after I had decided on which challenges I was going to throw together for this card (listed below), I had to pick a color. I definitely don't use orange or peach much, so I wanted to challenge myself to combine everything, and use a color that I normally wouldn't. It definitely makes for a non traditional Valentine or love card, but I like my results. My favorite thing would have to be the shimmery, embossed floral paper I used for the background. I am very happy that you can see it as clearly as you can in the picture. It's new, from the SEI "Poppy" paper collection my mom got me for Christmas. I {heart} this stuff!
Color Chef Challenge #33 - Monochromatic (color of your choice)
Humble Pie Challenge #2 - Flourishes (I stampled some flourishes on the peach layer under the two thin white ribbons)
Frosted Designs Challenge - Inks (there's lots of ink on this card)
Saturday Spotlight #13 - Valentine card without hearts
Just Us Girls Challenge #15 - Stitching (faux stitching along the bottom of the peach layer with the flourishes on it)
Pals Paper Arts Challenge #24 - Sketch
I'm happy that I was able to get all of that onto one card! Of course, it's only one of four cards I created all night. I did a whole lot of nothing, mixed with a whole lot of talking. lol
Have a wonderful day ya'll!
Hugs!
Hey everyone!
I hope ya'll are keeping warm! It's been bitterly cold here in the DFW area. This is Texas afterall, and it should be in the 40's and not the 20's at this time of year. Maybe next year we'll actually get snow for winter! lol
Anyway, I just wanted to pop on quick to say I was surprised, and excited to be chosen, again, for the SPCC Top 5. You can see which card was chosen HERE.
I hope you guys stay nice and cozy warm, bundled up with some nice goodies! Thanks for letting me share again! :)
Hugs!
"My love for you is a journey; starting at forever, and ending at never."
I'm continuing on my slow journey of creating my Valentine's for this year. I'm not sure if I'm going to send to everyone, or just to my sweetheart, and the kiddo's. There have been several requests for Valentine cards at work, so I think I may just create for them, and then just make a couple for me this year. I'm not in a hurry to do much of anything these days, so I guess we'll see what happens. I created this card based on the colors from the Embellish Magazine color challenge that is running until the 14th. I love these colors togther for Valentine's Day. The twist was to include hearts.
Now, most of you have been following my blog for a while. You all know how badly I struggle with bow tying, but check out the super awesome bow I tied on this card. Isn't it fantastic?! I'm SO happy that one of my favorite people, Dawn McVey, posted a bow tying video. Her bow's are amazing, and they are easy. I mean, look at how well I did, and you know how crappy I am at it. lol You should head over there and check it out. I know that I will definitely be using her technique a LOT for my projects from now on. I'm just in love, love, LOVE with the bow, and my card! It's so clean and simple. This has got to be one of my favorites. Alright, I'm done ranting. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!
Hugs!
"Marriage is more than just the word love. It is trust, honesty, and friendship. Gifts sent from Heaven above."
Stephen's parents are celebrating their 36th (I think) Wedding Anniversary on Saturday. I'm always in such admiration of couples who have been together for longer than a few years. They go through the troubles of everyday and yet, seem to overcome everything. I can only hope that if I am ever married again that I am blessed with such a long, happy marriage. This is the card I made for them. They're wonderful people, and I am happy that they have welcomed me into their family with such open, and loving arms.
I combined a couple of challenges, listed below, in this simple card. I found these adorable Anna Griffin Valentine journal tags when shopping at Archiver's in Austin (Hi Sister!!), and thought they would be perfect for this card. I hope they enjoy it.
Just Us Girls Challenge #14 - Sketch
All Sorts Challenge Week #33 - Use new goodies, or use up some of your stash.
Our Creative Corner - Clean and Simple
Wishing you all a wonderful day!
Hi everyone!
I was browsing the challenge blogs again and saw my card posted over at The Color Chef as the winner for Challenge #32. If you click on the link, it will take you to my winning card. This makes me happy as the card is probably one of my most favorites. :)
What an awesome way to start off the week!
Hugs ya'll!
"Snowflakes are Angel kisses."
I'm excited that I was able to participate in this weeks Christmas Card challenge. It's been really crazy for me the last week or so, with work, and I really needed to just get away from everything and create something fun. Our year end closing has come to an end, finally, and I'm happy to begin a new work year. I've got lots of ideas that I am going to submit for implementation so that my department is more efficient. We'll see if they work!
Here's my card for this week. The challenge for this week was to use buttons.
I am quite happy with my card for today. I was able to combine quite a few challenges, listed below, into this card. And, I know you can't tell from the picture, but I tried something different with my button. I filled it with white puff paint and glitter and in real life it's really cool looking for a button center. I love the colors as well. They're very crisp and clean.
Everything But The Kitchen Sink Around The House Challenge - Use Wrapping Paper (the strip of grey/silver on the left is wrapping paper, too bad you can't see the snowflakes on it)
All Sorts Week #33 - Use New Goodies or Your Stash (I didn't use the sketch for this challenge)
Crazy 4 Challenges #18 - Polka Dots (My snowflakes have polka dots on them)
Scrap & Stamp - Cutting Challenge (I made a card, but this challenge blog is for layouts, oops! I did cut out my tree though! lol)
Sweet Stop Challenge #37 - Sketch
I hope you'll head over to Sparkle's blog to see her gorgeous card and maybe join us for this weeks challenge. What better way to get your cards done ahead of time, right?
Hugs!
Hey ya'll!
Thanks so much for visiting yesterday for the US New Years Blog Hop! What fun! I hope you enjoyed visiting everyone's blogs and reading about what accomplishments they had in 2009 and what their resolutions are for 2010. I hope each of you is able to attain the goals you set out for yourself this year.
So, after my post yesterday I received tons, and I mean tons, of mixed emails about my no comment blog this year. Who would have thought that by simply turning that function off, I'd receive so much opinion on it. You guys have always been honest with me, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. lol I didn't do it to be selfish, or so that you'd think it was a way for me to get out of commenting on your blogs. I did it to try to help relieve the stress I feel by not being able to get around to commenting as often as I'd like. You guys definitely let me know how you felt about this, and why you leave comments, and so I have decided to turn them back on. You're amazing and always so understanding, and supportive, and I'm so blessed that I've found you guys through this wonderful hobby of ours. I will definitely do better in trying to comment more often and I appreciate your patience if I am unable to get around to it as frequently as I'd like to.
You guys rock!
Hey ya'll!!
Welcome to the Unscripted Sketches blog hop! If you've come from Sarah Kaye's blog, you're right on track, and at the end of the hop! If you're just beginning, please start at the Unscripted Sketches blog.
2009 was a great year for me, both personally and professionally. Last year I posted about my resolutions and am happy to say that I've accomplished all but one of them. I wanted to be on a design team and was fortunate to have served on four DT's this year. I also wanted to control my temper more, and through the help of my friends, and family, I am happy to say that I'm much more calm and relaxed nowadays. The last thing I wanted to accomplish was to lose weight. Unfortunately, this was the one resolution I didn't get around to. I haven't beat myself up over it, as I know I'm a stress eater, and I have lots of stress with work. I will just try to do better this year.
I'm hoping that the 2010 year will be just as good, if not better, than 2009. This year I have a short list of resolutions I want to try to achieve. This year I will add losing weight to my list again. The second thing is simplifying things in my life. I've gotten so consumed by everything I absolutely have to have that I am forgetting about the things that I already have, that are most important. I'm going to be purging things throughout the house, and focusing on using what I have. I think that both of these resolutions are within my reach, and I am going to do everything possible to try to make them happen.
In working on simplifying things, I've updated my blog, and have removed the comments. I feel absolutely terrible that I am unable to visit everyone's blogs, and comment on your gorgeous projects like I'd like to, that I don't think it's fair to allow you to leave comments for me. It really stresses me out. I will definitely continue to try to visit and comment on your blogs though. The first thing I'm purging is going to by my scrapbooking and card making stuff. I'm going to try to use up a lot of my stash too.
So what about you? What are your resolutions for 2010? I wish everyone a happy, healthy, blessed New Year, again, and say thanks again for visiting as often as you do. You have truly enriched my life, and I'm blessed to have such wonderful "blog friends". Due to work and personal reasons, I have taken the month of January off from my design teams. I will be posting things here and there, but I won't be back to posting regularly until the first week in February.
I hope you've had a great time along our blog hop and have been inspired to set a few resolutions for this year. I can't wait to read all about them!
With great love and appreciation for all of you!
I want to wish all of you a very Happy New Year! Thanks so much for visiting me frequently, and always being generous with the "love" you leave. I'm so thankful for each of my "blog friends" and I am looking forward to another year of blogging and craftiness. I hope you have a wonderful year, filled with many blessings, good health, and everything you hope for!
Much love,
