Unscripted Sketches #29

Hi ya'll!

Happy Halloween!!  Is everyone ready for the events to come this evening?  I'm SO looking forward to seeing all of the kiddos dressed in their costumes!  I know that I should probably have created something Halloween related for today's post, but I was done with everything and wanted to create a layout.  This is the cute little boy from my Love Mini Album I made a couple months ago, when he was about 4 months old.  My co-worker sent me a few pictures of her beautiful babies so that I could use them if I needed to.  I love his little bald head and those big eyes of his in this picture.  Isn't he the cutest?!  This weeks Unscripted sketch is another one that works for all kinds of things.  I have started my self imposed card making ban and this is the first of many layouts I hope to accomplish.

I love the little airplane too.  It's a Martha Stewart stamp that I stamped in black ink onto green patterned paper and then cut out and popped up on pop dots.  The polka dots on the red strip of paper were intentionally done in a blurred fashion to give them a sort of 3D look.  I think it's kind of cool how they turned out.

I hope you'll head over to the Unscripted blog to see what my friends have created for you today.  Again, this weeks projects are absolutely amazing!  I'm always so excited that you guys get to see what we've created each week.  I'm absolutely loving being a part of Unscripted Sketches!

Just another reminder about some blog candy you could win. :)

Have a great weekend!!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #54

Howdy everyone!

How was your weekend?  Did you get lots of crafty time in?  I was crafting up a storm this weekend, trying to get everything done before I leave for my vacation.  Yep, I'm headed to the Midwest to visit my family.  I've got my jeans and sweaters packed, and it sounds like it might snow while I'm there.  Woo Hoo!  I love the snow!

Anyway, this weeks Cuttlebug Spot challenge is a Halloween color combo.  The idea is to create a project for Halloween using the colors black, green and purple.  I LOVE these as Halloween colors!  So here is my take on this weeks challenge.

I'm really digging it!  It actually turned out slightly better than I had thought.  The Skeleton Scroll embossing folder was a perfect frame for my sentiment.  I ran some white pigment ink over the embossing so that it would show up a bit better against the dark.  All in all, it's one of my favorite Halloween cards this year.

I'm so excited with what my fellow DT members have created, you should go check them out!  We love it when you join us for the challenges too.  Hopefully you'll get to play along with us this week.

Did you remember to enter to win my blogaversary blog candy?

Have a fabulous day!

Unscripted Sketches #28

Happy Saturday everyone!

I'd like to first start off by saying I'm not happy with the quality of my photo of today's project.  I apologize for the graininess.  I'm not sure what happened, but I just couldn't get it sharp like I normally do.  Other than that, I really like my take on this weeks Unscripted sketch.  It was an awesome sketch, and I have a feeling I will be using it again.

I really like the acorn and leaves image I just got recently.  I think it's very fall related, and it's got some white spaces to color in.  I used the colors from Color Throwdown #64, which were Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand (I substituted), and Black or Chocolate.  This combo works really well for the Autumn theme I was looking for.

I can't wait for you to see what my fellow Unscripted DT members have created for you today!  They're always SO fabulous, and this week is no exception!

Don't forget to enter to win some candy!

Have a wonderful day!

It's My 1 Year Blogiversary!! :)

Hi everyone!

I'm SO excited!  Today is my one year blogiversary!!  I can't believe how quickly time has passed.  It doesn't feel like I've been blogging that long.  Oh my gosh!  What a year it has been though!  I'm truly blessed to have made so many friends along the way.  You guys rock!  It's hard to believe I've got over 200 followers, and almost 40,000 blog hits as well.  When I first started my blog last year, I was just hoping to post pictures for family and friends to enjoy.  Boy did this turn out to be a lot more fun than I expected! :)

So, I'm sure you guys all know me fairly well by now.  In true form, we need to celebrate with some blog candy!  That's right!  I'm going to be giving away more blog candy.  And, there really isn't anything special you need to do to be entered.  All you need to do is link your blog below using Mr. Linky, and share the news with your friends, if you want.  If you'd like, you can also leave a comment, but it's not necessary.

I will choose a number randomly on Saturday, the 7th of November, which just happens to be my birthday!  What better way to celebrate an anniversary and birthday than by giving away $100 to the place of your choice, and a little something special from me!

Thank you SO much to all of you who have visited during the past year.  I'm so truly blessed and couldn't have asked for more!  I have nothing but love for all of you!

Hugs!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #53

Happy Monday ya'll!

I'm trying to stay positive today seeing as how I feel like I got no weekend.  My plans to use my day all to myself on Saturday wound up turning into watching a friends kiddos because they had an emergency.  I'm glad everything turned out ok, and they are good kids, but my weekend didn't turn out how I had planned.  Eh, no big deal.

So today's challenge over at The Cuttlebug Spot is to create Halloween candy containers, wrappers, or something similar.  I had always wanted to try making those cute sour cream containers and this was the perfect opportunity.

I ran my patterned papers through my Cuttlebug and distressed with some black ink before I made the sour cream containers.  I then tied the tags on with ribbon.  These are actually very easy to make, and they work well for what I wanted to do.  They're filled with candy corn, my favorite!  I think I will make a small one of these containers filled with candy for each of my co-workers.

I hope you'll head over to The Cuttlebug Spot to check out what everyone has created for you today.  They're all wonderful, as always!

Have a great day!

Unscripted Sketches #27

Hi everybody!

I hope you're having a fantastic weekend filled with great things!  I'm happy that I don't have a lot of stuff planned for this weekend.  I'm normally running around like a crazy woman, but not this time.  I've got the entire day to do anything I want.  I plan on creating as much as I can so that I have more posts for you guys during the week.

Saturday brings us another Unscripted Sketches challenge.  For this week, I decided I wanted to do another mini book.  I have a friend who is always looking for a notepad and pen to write stuff down, so I'm going to give her this cute little mini she can keep in her purse, along with a pen!  LOL  And yep, the front and back cover of this book are Chili's coasters again.  I doubt they'll miss the few I took. :)

I'm a big fan of purple and green together.  My friend Ann in Ohio first got me started with that color combo and I tend to use it quite a bit for things.  I really love how the dark eggplant and the celery colors compliment each other so well.  I'm happy with how this turned out.  I really stuck to the sketch this week, and kept it simple.  I hope my friend likes it.

As always, my fellow DT members have created some amazing projects using this weeks sketch as well.  I hope you'll head over to the Unscripted Sketches blog and check them out.  We love it when you guys get to play along too, so hopefully you can join us again this week!

I'm off to begin my full day of craftiness!  Have a wonderful day!

Coaster Mini Book

Hey ya'll!

So we went to lunch at Chili's last week for one of my co-workers birthdays.  It was nice to get out of the office and just hang out with my co-workers in a non-working type of environment.  We don't do that very often, so it was great.  Anyway, I got these coasters from the restaurant and wanted to use them.  I'd seen several people make chipboard coaster mini books, so I thought I would make an attempt at it.

I think it turned out quite cute, with the exception of the ribbon and fibers on the ring.  I don't think I like them much.  I love these papers though, I've had them for years!  I had been hoarding them, but with all of the new stuff that continues to come out, decided it was time to let go and use them.  I'm happy that I did.  I haven't decided what I'm going to do with this book yet.  Maybe I'll add a few photos of Sydney and her friends and give it to her.  :)

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #52

Hi ya'll!

I have to start off by saying that fall is finally starting to arrive in Dallas!  We're getting some cooler temps and nicer weather.  I've definitely been waiting for this.  I'm a happy, happy girl!

It's Monday, which brings us to another Cuttlebug Spot challenge.  This week our challenge is to create a monochromatic card.  I love the look of monochromatic projects.  They have a clean and simple look to them, and the different shades of the same colors are gorgeous together.  Here is my card for this week.

I started with a 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 kraft card base, and some Crushed Curry designer series paper from the Razzleberry Lemonade pack and went from there.  The base panel is a yellow piece of cardstock that I stamped with my wood grain background stamp in Crushed Curry and then embossed with the SU! Texturz Background.  It's so pretty in real life.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  I added some So Saffron grosgrain ribbon, my sentiment and a Prima flower with a button center and I was done.

I hope you'll head over to The Cuttlebug Spot and check out the other fabulous creations the other DT members have created today.  Maybe you'll get the chance to play along too!

Have an awesome day!

Unscripted Sketches #26

Hey ya'll!

It's Saturday, which means it's time for another Unscripted Sketches challenge.  I'm so excited each week as we gain new followers, and participants.  It's hard to believe we've got such a good following already.  I absolutely LOVE seeing everyones projects!  You all are so very inspiring!

So, this weeks sketch is another simple, yet fabulous one.  I flipped it on its side and it worked fabulously for what I was aiming for.  I wanted to try something with paint too, so I used it for this weeks sketch.  Here is what I came up with.

I hate that you can't see what those "dots" are running down the left side of the picture.  It's a row of stars to coordinate with the others on the right side of the page, and the title.  It's been raining again and I wasn't able to get that great of a picture, sorry!  I really like how the faux stitching along the edges looked after I sanded them though.  It's not as bright, and looks kind of worn.  Love that!  Since starting school, Mikey has gone from hating it, to loving it.  I'm so glad that we're over the dislike part of it.  You should have seen the look on his face when we told him he had to go back every week for the next few years.  He was ready to be done after the first week, lol.  Poor kid!

The projects that my fellow DT members have created for you this week are nothing short of fabulous! I'm always so inspired by them and I'm glad to know such great people who are so, so talented.  I hope you'll head over to Unscripted and join us for this weeks sketch challenge!

Have a great weekend!

My New Love

Hey everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA this week.  It's been crazy busy at work, and I haven't had much time in the evenings to work on any crafty projects.  I just wanted to take a quick minute to share how wonderfully spoiled I am.  Stephen decided I needed a new phone.  I was ok with anything new, but here is what he came home with.  A brand spankin new Palm Pre, just for me.

Isn't she beautiful?!  This is honestly the first time I've had a phone this fancy.  See, I'm not all that high maintenance or high tech when it comes to stuff.  I am good to get online and check my email, post to my blogs, and text people on my phone.  I don't really ask for or need much more than that.  At least, I thought I didn't.  I have literally spent the last day or so tinkering with the new love of my life.  How did I not need this before? LOL  Stephen has definitely scored some major brownie points with this.  I'm thinkin I may have to come up with a very creative way to show him how much I love this phone. *wink, wink*  Now I can upload TwitPics too!  Oh the possibilities!  :)

I hope ya'll have a fabulous day today!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #51

Hey everyone!

Happy Monday!  I hope ya'll had a fantastic weekend!  Did you enjoy all of the WCMD events on Saturday?  What fun!  So, it is my great pleasure to bring you this weeks Cuttlebug Spot challenge.  For our projects this week, we were asked to go pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.  This weeks challenge is very near and dear to my heart as I have a very special friend who is a survivor.  There was no sketch used for this card.  I just started doing stuff, and wound up with this.

I'm really excited that it turned out as well as it did.  I love the Moroccan Screen embossing folder!  Isn't it so pretty?  I purchased this stamp months ago and hadn't used it yet.  I thought it tied in perfectly with this weeks theme.

I hope you'll head over to The Cuttlebug Spot and check out what my fellow DT members have created for you.  They're all really nice, as always.  Maybe you'll get the chance to join us this week.  We always love seeing your projects!

Have a wonderful day!

Jazzy Inspirations #20

Hola!

This is my second post of the day.  Please scroll down for my US blog hop post. :)

So it's been a few weeks since we've had a Jazzy Inspirations challenge. Tenia has been totally swamped and was unable to host the next challenge until now. I hope things start to lighten up for her soon! Poor girl!

This weeks inspiration piece is Art Tatum's Storyville cover. The colors are black, white and kind of a mauve/purple. I used THIS sketch again! I'm totally hooked on it for some reason. I think it works both vertically and horizontally.

Now, this card turned out to be really busy. I've never created anything with so many patterns and textures. I'm really loving it though. I had some paper from the Far East Stack that had a mauve/purple pattern in it and kind of went with the Asian theme from there.
I hope you'll head over to the Jazzy Inspirations blog and check out what my fellow DT members have created for you. They're all pretty fantastic. Hopefully, you'll get to play along as well!
Have a great day!

It's Blog Hoppin Time, Unscripted Style!

Happy World Card Making Day!

I'm so happy that you're here!  If you've made it to my blog from SarahKaye's blog then you're right on track!  If not, please start at the Unscripted Sketches blog and make your way through all of the designers blogs.  Several of my friends are offering up some World Card Making Day blog candy.  I'd hate for you to miss out on those opportunities and the chance to see what they've created for you today! :)

Here is the card I made for World Card Making day.  I love this paper, and the pattern on it.  The colors are nice and rich, and really pop against the black.

There is a lot of detail to this card.  More than I usually include anyway.  I embossed the patterned paper and sanded it.  I also stamped a border of flowers along the edge of the yellow Bazzill cardstock.  There is more bling on this card than I've used in a while too.  LOL  I really love the way it turned out though.

Now it's time to head off to the final stop on the Unscripted World Card Making Day Blog Hop!  Head on over to Susan's blog to see what she has created for you!  Thanks for joining us and for visiting me!  I hope you'll join us and create something in honor of today's event.  Don't forget to link it up in the Mr. Linky section of the Unscripted blog. :)

I hope you have a wonderful day!

SPCC #17

Hey there! So I'm quickly becoming addicted to the SPCC blog. They've got some fabulous color combos and I'm starting to look forward to them each week. This weeks color combo is Real Red, So Saffron, Old Olive and Bashful Blue. I immediately got two ideas. One for a child, and the other for a more feminine type card. Since I couldn't pick one over the other, I went ahead and chose both! :) For the first card I used THIS sketch. And for the second, I used THIS one.

It's amazing how one color combo can produce such different cards. I even thought about a Christmas card in these colors too! So many possibilities in this combo. I loved it!!

You should head over to the SPCC blog and see what their fantastic designers have come up with too. They're amazing!

Hugs!
