Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #46

Hey ya'll! I'm behind on several things today so I'm going to make this post short and sweet. This weeks Cuttlebug Spot challenge was to create a project based on learning or education. It could include any of the following: back to school, education, graduation, teacher appreciation or learning quotes. I have to admit that I was thrilled with this challenge. I got to use one of my all time favorite quotes. I used THIS sketch for my layout. Loved it! I'm a HUGE Dr. Seuss fan, so I thought it only fitting to use this quote for this project. I can remember my mom reading every Dr. Seuss book we owned, which was all of them, to us frequently. It makes me smile and a bit nostalgic, and it makes me miss my mom. I'm sure she'll appreciate this card when she receives it in the mail. The projects that my fellow DT members at The Cuttlebug Spot have created today are wonderful! I hope you will head over there and check them out. We really appreciate all who join in on the challenges. Thanks a bunch for your support! Have a wonderful day! Supplies Paper: SU! Riding Hood Red Textured cardstock, SU! Rockabilly DSP, Prism Deep Red cardstock, Kraft & White cardstock, Scrapworks Formal Affair Patterned paper Accessories: Computer Generated Sentiment, Cuttlebug, Textile Texture Embossing Folder, Classic Smooth & Scalloped Circle Nesties, Flower Ribbon, Flat Back Pearls, Pop Dots

Hi everyone, I'm so bummed that some of my posts have gone missing. This is my second posting of my Unscripted Sketches challenge for this week. Please do not feel obligated to leave a comment again. I appreciate all of them, but it is not necessary due to the circumstances. I really love this card, and so did the recipient. I included this in a set of gift cards I made for her. I'm glad she liked it. Don't forget to visit Unscripted Sketches to see what everyone has created for you today and hopefully play along this week! Have a good day! Disaster :(

So I woke up this morning only to find that my last three posts have disappeared. I've never had this happen before, and in all honesty, I'm not sure how this could have happened. Why just those posts? Has anyone had any problems with blogger like this? I am going to repost my Unscripted Sketches project from yesterday and get in touch with my blog candy winner to get that taken care of. I'm sad that I've lost all of the comments everyone had left. I'm so sorry!

Color Dare #31 - Friends

Woo hoo, it's Hump Day! I'm always so excited once Wednesday gets here. That means there are only a couple days until I get to sleep in, somewhat. I love to sleep these days! LOL Wednesday also means it's time for another Color Dare challenge! This week was a lot harder for me than any of the previous challenges. Wait till you hear what colors were chosen! We were to use Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard and Kraft. Now I don't know about ya'll, but how the heck do you use all of those colors and make it look good? LOL Here is my feeble attempt to do just that. I have to say that it did turn out a bit better than expected. It's got kind of a retro look to it. I'm not digging it a whole lot though. I did, however, enjoy the look of the new Herringbone embossing folder. Isn't it fabulous?! I think I may use this as a card for a male friend of mine who loves anything I create. He really is my biggest support person. Hope he likes it! It is now with great sadness that I announce my resignation from The Color Dare design team. It has truly been a pleasure to work with Riley and the other ladies, and I will miss them. Sadly, this is my last project as a design team member. Sometimes things happen and you need to reorganize your priorities. Unfortunately, I will no longer be able to keep up with the weekly obligation that is required to be on the team. I want to thank Riley for giving me the opportunity to serve on my very first design team, ever! I wish everyone at The Color Dare the best always! *hugs* I hope you will head over to see what everyone else has created for you today. They're fantastic! Maybe you'll even get to play along! Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #45 - Hot 4 You

Hi everyone! I'm dragging my feet getting ready for work this morning. Sydney starts 6th grade today, and Mikey starts Kindergarten. I think Stephen is having more of a rough time with that than I am. They look so cute all dressed and excited to go. I hope they have a good day today. Monday means it's time for another Cuttlebug Spot challenge! This week the challenge was to use the word HOT somewhere on your project. I struggled with this because I didn't even know where to start. Then, while at work the other day, I was talking to one of my team members about any ideas she could give me for my project, and another co-worker said he could help. He stated that he and his wife would be celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary this week, and wanted to know if I could make him a card. I asked him if it was going to be an issue if I used the word "hot" on it, and he said it would actually be perfect. Go figure! So, this is what I came up with. I think it's a beautiful color combo, and the shine you see in the "window" part of the chipboard frame is using what's called the "kissing" technique I found on Jennifer McGuire's blog. It's really pretty in real life. Of course, this is one of my favorite color combos too. My co-worker loved it, so that made me happy. I hope his wife enjoys it as well! I hope you'll head over to The Cuttlebug Spot today to see what everyone has created. They're all fabulous again this week. Maybe you can join us for this weeks challenge too! Have a great day! Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week #38

Happy Sunday everyone! :) I feel like I'm on a roll today. I got up early and cleaned the house before anyone else was up. I then finished the laundry, and got started on the menu for the week. School starts tomorrow so I needed to make sure I got everything in order before tomorrow. It looks like the weather is going to cool down a bit too. We're only going to be in the 90's instead of the 100's this week. Yay! LOL Anwyay, I was excited that I had a few extra minutes to get a card made for Sparkle's Christmas card challenge this week. She encouraged us to use THIS sketch, and I like my results. I'm using the new MME papers I got recently, again. I'm still in love with them! You should head over to Sparkle's blog to see her card for today, it's fantastic! Maybe you'll get the chance to join in and create a Christmas card too! Have a wonderful day!

Jazzy Inspirations #18 - Just For You

Hi ya'll! This is my second post of the day, so don't forget to scroll down to see what else I have created for you today. It's another Jazzy Inspirations Saturday! I can honestly say that I love it when I get to post twice in one day. That means I've gotten more scrappy time in around here. For this weeks inspiration piece, Tenia chose a Sonny Rollins cover. The colors in this cover are quite interesting, but very simple. We had black, white, gray and a "pop" of green to work with. I paired these colors with THIS sketch. It's a fantastic sketch! I'm not too sure I did the whole "pop" of color too well, but I really love my card. The new Fleur de Lis embossing folder is just beautiful, and you get a really nice embossed background. I so hope you'll head over to Jazzy Inspirations today to see what my fellow DT members have created for you. They're all pretty fabulous, as always! Maybe you'll get the chance to play along with us. We'd love to see what you come up with! Have a wonderful weekend! Unscripted Sketches #20

Happy Saturday ya'll! Every week I get more and more shocked at how quickly the weeks go by. Here we are at challenge #20 for Unscripted Sketches already. Gosh, how is it that time seemed to last forever when I was a kid, and now I feel like I lose days with the blink of an eye? Ahh, to be young and carefree, without all of the troubles of today. Now that would be awesome! Anyway, moving on to this weeks project. The sketch is yet again fabulous! I can't say enough about the sketches that are created for us. I could go on and on about how awesome I think they are, but instead I'll just share my project now. :) So, I have a confession to make. I'm a closet Twilight fan. I just started reading the books because I knew that I'd become engulfed in them, and none of my other responsibilities would get tended to. With that being said, I've put myself on a schedule. Yes, a Twiling reading schedule, no laughing! LOL I'm only allowing myself to read once all of my other "chores" are done. And, I'm not allowing myself to stay up past 11pm reading either. So, there may be some nights I get more reading done than others. I'll finish them eventually. Do you think I'm slightly insane now? I thought so, but hey, it works for me! :D So, back to my project today. I was searching online and came across these cool images. I have a friend I think will enjoy this layout very much as she's already read all of the books and is in love with everything Twilight. I have to say I'm pretty happy with it. I struggle with "white space" but this turned out A OK! I did have a really difficult time figuring out how to get my photo of it though. I didn't want to matte it onto another 12 X 12 sheet of cardstock, so I had to get creative. Guess it turned out ok. I hope you'll head over to the Unscripted Sketches blog to see the amazing projects my fellow DT members have created for you. I think they're fantastic yet again this week. They never cease to impress me with their inspiring pieces of art each week. I hope you'll play along with us too! Have a wonderful weekend! How the heck did that happen?!

I was sitting here uploading some photos for one of my DT projects on Saturday and I realized that I'm just totally exhausted, at 8:45pm! It's almost to the point where I'm about to doze off at my desk. Since when did I become a fan of going to bed so early? What happened to the days when I would START getting ready to go out at 9pm?! Ugh, I feel like such a dork as I sit here waiting for 9:30pm to come so I can crash. Last week I stayed out with some friends until 1am, and it took me the rest of the week to recover. *sigh* What the heck is happening to me?! I've never been the kind of person who worries about my age. Each birthday is just another year that I have been blessed to still be around my family and friends. Now, I hope none of ya'll take any offense to this, as I'm tired and rambling, and just in the mood to think out loud. I guess now that I'm almost 34, I realize that I'm simply unable to do some of the things I used to. The kiddos have started wanting to do "cool" stuff, without us parents. I'm starting to accumulate gray in my once full head of dark brown hair and gravity is starting to do things to me that I wish it wouldn't. Time seems to disappear with the blink of an eye, and I'm afraid that if I don't have my camera attached to my hand, I may miss something huge. The kids have begun to hide from me, the boyfriend makes faces when I try to take his picture, and I'm worried that I don't have enough new pictures to keep scrapbooking. I never used to worry about half the things I do now. It's totally insane the way I work myself into a tizzy! I wish I could click my heels and repeat three times: "There's no place like 1985!" LOL Back when I could stay up later than my kids, had tons of energy, and my biggest worry was how I was going to convince my parents that if I didn't get to go to the New Kids On The Block concert my life would surely end. Does anyone else feel this way? I'm off to kill the last few minutes with a bubble bath, and then I've got a date with my pillows! Have a good night everyone!

Color Dare #30 - Best Wishes!

Happy Wednesday to all! It's time for another Color Dare challenge! This week the colors chosen for us were Crushed Curry, Cameo Coral, Almost Amethyst and Rose Red. As stated in a post from a while back, I dislike any shade of coral and have a difficult time using it in any of my projects. To prevent myself from stressing over that one specific color, I decided to use it as my cardbase. Easy fix, huh? LOL I used THIS sketch, paired with this weeks colors. I'm really digging this Crushed Curry patterned paper from the Razzleberry Lemonade designer series paper pack. It's really pretty! I hope you'll head over to The Color Dare blog and check out what my fellow DT members have created for you today. I hope you have a great day! Supplies Paper: SU! Happy Anniversary!

How'dy ya'll! I know I said I'd be back on Wednesday with another post, but I forgot I had this card ready for all of you to see. It was my dear blog friend Aymee's anniversary last week, so I sent this card to her and her hubby. She sent me an awesome email thanking me for it, so I thought it would be ok to post it, now that I know she received it. I used THIS sketch with one of my favorite color combos. What do you think? It didn't turn out exactly how I expected, but I love it nonetheless. I'm just happy that Aymee and her husband enjoyed it. I'm off to work now, hope you guys have a great day!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #44 - You're Invited!

Hey ya'll! It's Monday, which brings us another Cuttlebug Spot challenge. This week we were challanged to create an invitation of some sort. Now, I normally don't do the whole invitation thing. I've never really needed any, until this year. See, my daughter is going to be 13 and she wanted really girly invites for her birthday party this year. The only requirement she asked for were butterflies somewhere on the invite. She's definitely MY girl! I hope these will be sufficient. I'd have to say it's definitely girly, and it has a butterfly! I'm completely in LOVE with Melon Mambo, so I have a feeling you'll be seeing it quite a bit. I used THIS sketch again for the layout. I really like how simple it is. So I'm hoping you'll check out what the other Cuttlebug Spot designers have created for you today. They're fabulous! Back on Wednesday with another post! Hugs! Supplies Paper: SU! Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #37

Hey ya'll! Woo Hoo look at me, a Sunday post! It's been a long time since I have been able to play along with Sparkle's Christmas Card challenge. Each week she challenges us to create one or two Christmas cards so that we don't have to rush around at the end of the year trying to get them all done. It's hard to believe she's been hosting these for 37 weeks already. Wow, that's almost 10 months! I'm SO glad I found her blog, and I am glad that she hosts these challenges each week. I paired this weeks challenge, which was to use a coffee cup in your card, with THIS sketch. I LOVE AmyR's sketches and try to participate in them as often as I can! Unfortunately, life doesn't allow me that luxury often. I normally only have time for my DT stuff. *sigh* I looked through the tons of stamps I have, and am disappointed that I don't even have ONE coffee cup stamp. Through the glorious power of the internet I Googled some images and used one for my card. I think it's really cute. I'm still really loving these MME Christmas papers I got recently. I'm thinking I may need to find a way to use them for non Christmas type stuff just so I can continue to play with them. LOL We'll have to see how that goes though. I hope you'll head over and check out Sparkle's blog and maybe play along with her challenge this week. There is some amazing inspiration on her blog! I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful she is! Happy Sunday!

I couldn't pass it up. :) The projects that my fellow DT members have created for you today are amazing, as always! Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #43

Yay! It's Monday again! Ok, so I know some of you don't share in my enthusiasm, but I figured I'd try to start my day off on a positive note. :) Monday means it's time for another Cuttlebug Spot challenge! This week my fellow DT member, and blog friend Aymee, has come up with a fabulous sketch for all of us to use. I love this sketch! Now, if you remember, this darling little girl was seen in my first mini album, and belongs to my team member Olga. She gave me a few pictures of her kiddos to use for a few of my projects. These kids are absolutely adorable! Of course, this layout and all of the other projects that I create using these pictures will go directly to their family. Not too shabby of a deal! I hope that you'll head over to the Cuttlebug Spot to see what everyone else has created for you today. They're fabulous, as always! I'll be back on Wednesday with another something crafty for you! Some "Thank You" Blog Candy!

Hi everyone! As I mentioned earlier in the week, I've reached over 25,000 blog hits. When I logged onto my blog this morning, I realized that I now have over 100 followers also. I think it's time for some more Appreciation Blog Candy! All of you who visit my blog have been so supportive and encouraging, and I can't thank you enough for your continued visits. This blog candy will be just like the last. I will purchase a gift card or gift certificate to the place of your choice. I think that kind of blog candy works out well so that you can get what you want. Instead of using comments to enter, I think we're going to try the Mr. Linky thing. Then I can randomly choose a number and not have to cut up hundreds of pieces of paper. All you need to do is post about this blog candy on your blog and then link your post below. Please use a direct link to your post rather than to your blog in general. I will delete general blog links. If your link has been deleted, you can add it again with the link to your direct post. If Mr. Linky is not working, go ahead and leave me a comment with your link. As soon as it is up and running again, I will upload it for you. To be fair to everyone, I'd appreciate it if you'd only enter once. :) If you do not have a blog and would like to be entered, leave me a comment, with your contact details, and I will add a number for you to the end. I'm hoping that covers everything. You have until Friday, August 28th at 10pm (central) to enter. On the 29th, I will randomly choose a winner. Easy right? Oh, and I guess the most important part is that you're entering for a chance at $150. Hope you're as excited about this as I am! Don't forget to tell your friends! Much Love!

Jazzy Inspirations #17

Hello again! This is my second post of the day, so don't forget to scroll down for my other post. This card might look familiar as I'm hooked on these My Mind's Eye Christmas papers I just got. This weeks inspiration piece is Andre Previn's Trio Jazz "King Size". The colors are dark blue, red, orange, black and white. We also received some free images from the Digi Shack, who is our sponsor this week. Mine was the violin. I was really excited because it went perfectly with these papers and the new music background stamp I just got. I really like how this card turned out also! I think it may be my love for these new papers. LOL I hope you'll head over to Jazzy Inspirations to check out what the other Jazzy Cats have created, and also view what the Jazz Cats of the week have done as well. They're all super fabulous! Hi everyone! Can you believe that we're in August already?! And, it's already the 8th! Scary how time is passing me by this year. Ugh, where does all of my time go. If anyone finds it hiding with theirs, please send it home! :) So, it's Saturday, and I've got two posts this morning. This is my first. The sketch over at Unscripted Sketches this week is another great one left for huge interpretation. I really had a blast with this one. I just got some new toys, like these awesome papers, and I'm loving this card. Isn't the Santa just fabulous?! Now, I know that most of us celebrate Christmas on the 25th, but I have a friend who's family celebrates on the 24th. Color Dare #28

Greetings ya'll! So it's still really hot here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We had some nice storms over the weekend, but all of that is over with now. I hate being out in the heat, but hot weather is perfect for staying indoors and playing with all of my scrappy stuff! I logged on to my blog this morning and just realized that I have reached over 25,000 blog hits. That's really amazing to me. I'm throwing around an idea for some more blog candy. 25,000 hits is awesome, and I feel the need to offer up some candy again. I'm sure later this week details about that will follow. So, onto this weeks Color Dare. The colors we are working with this week are Mambo Melon (I love this color), Night of Navy and Summer Sun. I've always liked the blue/yellow combo, but add a deep, rich pink to that mix and you've got an awesome looking project. Here is my card, based on THIS sketch. I'm quite pleased with my card, except for the sentiment part of it. After taking, and editing, and posting my picture of it, I think it looks weird. It's too late to fix it, so I'll just leave it and do something with it at another time. Hopefully, you'll head over to The Color Dare blog and see what everyone else has created today. They're all pretty wonderful, as always. Have a wonderful day! Supplies Paper: SU! Melon Mambo & Summer Sun cardstock, JoAnn's White cardstock, DCWV Patterned Paper Ink: SU! Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #42

Hi everyone! I had such a hard time getting out of bed this morning. This weekend was so busy, and I stayed up way too late working on some projects, that it caught up with me. Oh well, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. It's Monday, which brings us to another Cuttlebug Spot challenge! Nilda was so generous in sending all of us some of the new embossing folders and we were to pick our favorite and use it on this weeks project. I LOVE all of the new folders I received, but I think my favorite is the Harlequin. I can see myself using it several times! I used THIS sketch for my card. I seldom do boy or masculine cards, but I just got some new stamps that were too cute not to use right away. I love how this card turned out! I hope you'll head over and see what my fellow DT members have created for you today. They're all wonderful, as always! Have a good day! Blog Candy Winner!

Hey ya'll! I'm sorry this is SO late! I just got home from spending the day with my friend for her birthday. We just kept chatting, and chatting, and chatting! We also played with the birthday gift I gave her, a Cuttlebug! She didn't have one and I was totally shocked, so I bought her one. My Cuttlebug is one of my favorite toys, so she had to have one too! She loved it! Anyway, onto my blog candy winner! Thanks to all who participated in last Saturday's Jazzy Inspirations challenge. I loved looking at all of the creations! I put the names of all who participated, and posted on their blog that it was for entry into my blog candy, into a hat. Mikey drew the following name: Terri E. Congratulations Terri! Please email me as soon as you can so that we can make the necessary arrangements to get your blog candy to you. Hugs!

Unscripted Sketches #17

Yay, it's Saturday! I'm SO happy that the weekend is finally here! I've got a full day planned for today! It's my friends birthday so I'm spending the day with her. We're going to play with paper and fun stuff and grab some lunch. I'm really happy that we reconnected through Facebook. She rocks! So, before I head out, here is my card using this weeks Unscripted sketch. This weeks sketch was designed for us by one of our own DT members, April. The sketch is fabulous, and it's great for interpretation! I got some help with the color combo for my card today. I had my daughter pick the colors. Her choices were light blue, pink and purple. I think these colors look great together now that my project is finished. Wasn't too sure when I started though. LOL I hope you'll head over to Unscripted Sketches and check out the other wonderful projects that are posted by our fabulous design team! Hopefully, you'll get the chance to play along! Don't forget to check back this evening for the winner of my Jazzy Inspirations blog candy! Have a great day! Supplies Paper: GP White cardstock, JoAnn's Light Blue cardstock, SU!
