Cuttlebuggers Challenge #32

Hi everyone! Only one day until my vacation starts and I have really checked out already. I don't feel like being at work, and I'm only paying attention to the things that I absolutely MUST get done before I go. I hate feeling like this as I know it could cause mistakes, but I don't get to be out of my office much. It's even stated in my position that I am unable to request vacation from December 1st through January 31st. We close our calendar year at the end of December, and I have to be around in case of any issues. So, if I check out a day or so early during July for vacation, I'm sure they'll be able to handle it. I'll be on vacation from the 1st through the 5th. I have posts scheduled for every day, so there's lots to see while I'm hanging by the pool, doing nothing with my friends and family. :D Here is a card I whipped up quickly so that I could participate in this weeks Cuttlebug-ers challenge over at PCP. The challenge this week was to emboss and sand the raised area. I love this technique and use it as often as I can remember to! And yep, there are butterflies on this card as well. Told you I loved them. :) I really like the way it turned out. I've come upon some chipboard I forgot I had, so now they're being put to good use. I painted the chipboard, then sprayed it with Glimmer Mist, and then embossed it with the Script embossing folder. Neat results! I hope you have a wonderful day today! Hugs!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #37 - USA!

Hey everyone! I hope you had a relaxing weekend. We did as we spent all day Saturday at the pool! I am almost betting that Mikey will be a full fledged swimmer by the end of this summer, if not sooner. He LOVES the water! If I could just get him to keep his mouth closed when he dunks his head in the water, we'll be all good! LOL I'm happy to bring you another Cuttlebug Spot challenge. This weeks topic is very near and dear to my heart. This week we were to create a project celebrating out country. I have several friends and family members who have served, or are serving in the military and I am truly thankful for everything they represent, and for everything they do for all of us. They are always in my thoughts, and prayers. To all of you who are currently serving, or have family members who are, may God bless you and keep you safe at all times! *hugs* Here's my card! I started of going in a completely different direction, but this is what I wound up with. I think it's rather interesting and quite pretty. There's just something about seeing the red, white and blue colors together that totally make me smile too. :) I hope you'll head over to The Cuttlebug Spot and check out what my fellow DT members have created for you this week. What an awesome tribute to our country! Much Love! Supplies Paper: SU! Whisper White cardstock, Prism Deep Red cardstock Ink: SU! Jazzy Inspirations #14

Wow, two postings in one day! Guess I'm making up for lost time. :) Jazzy Inspirations is a fabulous blog that hosts challenges every Saturday. Tenia chooses a beautiful jazz album cover every week as inspiration, and the challenge is to create a project based on the cover. I'm sure there are several of you out there who know about this challenge already, but for those of you who don't, you can visit by clicking HERE. I've wanted to play along for so long, but never really had the opportunity. That was, until this morning. Below is my take on this weeks inspiration challenge. You know me and those butterflies! I embossed in clear onto yellow cardstock, and then distressed with Fired Brick distress ink. I cut one of the butterflies out and popped it up for dimension. I also added some bling to the flower centers for an extra bit of interest. The cover this week has red-orange, black, white and yellow in it. Her rockin DT have created some amazing cards for you today. You really should head over there and check them out. Maybe you'll be inspired to play along too! Hugs!

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week #30

Hi everyone! I hope you're enjoying a nice, relaxing Sunday. I know that I made no plans for today so that I could catch up on a few things, and do some pre-vacation packing. I head out on Wednesday and won't be back until Sunday. I'm SO excited! I think I'm pretty much on vacation mode already though. LOL So this is my card for this weeks challenge over on Sparkle's blog. It's another sketch challenge, and I had fun with it. It's a really good sketch that can be used over and over again. My friend Jen sent me a bit of cardstock in the new SU! In Colors so I used Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo on this card. These colors are nice and rich, and deep. I think they're growing on me. You should head over and check out the sketch and the cards that we've all come up with using it. It's a great idea to get started on Christmas cards early so that you're not rushing around at the last minute. :) Have a great day!

Unscripted Sketches #12

I'm having difficulties in trying to figure out where my time goes these days. I know I've mentioned it before, but it's already the end of June, and it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the arrival of the New Year. And, on top of that, we're at Sketch #12 over at Unscripted Sketches! 12 weeks of fabulously yummy sketches already?! Wow, time sure does fly! *sigh* This weeks sketch is another that I will definitely be using over and over again. The versatility of it is amazing. Here is my card for this week. I wanted to challenge myself to keep it semi monochromatic this week. I was interested to see how it would look if I used the same colors, with just a touch of something different. At first, I wasn't all that impressed with my outcome. Over the last week though, I've become quite fond of it. I just got my SU! Texturz Backgrounds #1 plates too, so I had to use them right away. They're really quite neat. I know they will be put to very good use a lot now! I hope you'll head over to Unscripted Sketches to see the fabulous creations my fellow DT members have created for you today. We're so thankful for all of you who join us each and every week, and we love all of your creations! Have a great weekend! Supplies Paper: Shimmer White cardstock, SU! Mojo in Krafty Pink Breezes

Evenin ya'll! Ok, so I have to start off by saying that the title of this post took me longer to come up with than the entire post did. I'm obviously not as creative when it comes to catchy titles. LOL I got home today and didn't have any work to do, so I immediately got busy on this weeks Mojo Monday sketch. I paired it with this weeks Color Throwdown, which was Kraft, Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze. These colors are awesome together. I could easily see them used for baby invites or announcements. Again, I used my favorite VERVE stamps! Have I mentioned how IN LOVE with these stamps I am?! Here's my warm and fuzzy card. :) These papers, and colors, and stamps go really well together. I am really loving my card. And, did you see the butterflies?! Love me some butterflies!! After looking at my picture, I think I may go back and add some flat back pearls to the corners of the sentiment layer. It looks like it's missing something. What do you think? I hope you guys will be back tomorrow for the next Unscripted Sketch challenge! See ya!

Distressed Baby Card

When Tim Holtz Distress Inks came out, I had to own each color they had. I looked for a couple months, in all kinds of places, to find them all. Well that's been over a year ago or so and I rarely use them. Did I mention I'm a hoarder? Ok, so I like to buy things, look at them often, but never use them. Last night I really wanted to make something using my Distress Inks. One of my favorite people and his wife just had a baby girl so I used my Distress Inks to create this gorgeous card for them. The picture really does no justice as to how beautiful it is in real life. Simple and elegant and I LOVE it! I layered Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick and Vintage Photo over the embossed background and then used Shabby Shutters for the sentiment tag. I spritzed the whole card with some white Perfect Pearls mixed with water for a bit of sparkle. A tip we got from Tim himself, when he visited one of the local M's. Anyway, I have a feeling you're going to start seeing a lot more distressed items. I forgot just how beautiful things can be when distressed with these inks. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Color Dare #22 - Delight In Life

It's Wednesday again! That means it's time for another Color Dare challenge! This weeks colors are really pretty together. Riley chose Kiwi Kiss, Pink Passion, and Apricot Appeal. Just look at how well they work together! I used THIS sketch and my card came together rather quickly, and nicely. I love it when that happens! I hope you'll head over to The Color Dare to see what my fellow DT members have created for you today. I'm sure you'll love them all, as I do! Have a Happy Humpday! Supplies Paper: SU! Another Sweet Stop Sketch!

Hi ya'll! Hope your week has started off well! Yesterday I was actually able to accomplish everything on my schedule, while still at work, which means I got some crafty time at home! Yay! I went browsing some of my favorite challenge blogs and found THIS beautiful sketch at the Sweet Stop. I also just got some new designer series paper I had ordered a while ago, but never had the chance to pick up until this weekend. So glad I finally did! I'm not a very frou frou girly girl type, but I LOVE this Tea Party paper! What do ya'll think? It's so bright and colorful and cheerful and makes me want to be outside! I probably would be outside more if it weren't for the 100 degree weather we are having now. LOL Anyway, it's a good thing I've got lots of new goodies, like my background Texturz plates, to keep me busy indoors for a while. I hope you have a great day!

Cuttlebug Spot #36 - I Love Summer!

Greetings! It's Monday, which brings us to another Cuttlebug Spot project. This week we were to create a Schools Out or Summer project. This is what I came up with, using THIS sketch. I recently got my first couple sets of stamps from Gina K. Little Tee's being one of them. I LOVE this set! It's so versatile and easy to use. It's the first time I've inked it up, but it definitely won't be the last! I hope you'll head over to The Cuttlebug Spot to see what my fellow DT members have created for you today. Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week #29

Hey ya'll! After not creating much for the past couple weeks, I think I lost a bit of my creative mojo. It took me forever to come up with what I wanted to do this morning. Anyone else have that problem? Anyway, I headed over to Sparkle's blog and this weeks Christmas Card challenge was a sketch. Score! It was all I needed to get things going. It's been a few weeks since I've been able to play along with this challenge, so I am happy to be back on track with my Christmas cards again. I hope you'll go check out everyone's postings, and maybe play along. Sparkle's card is really cute today too! Here's my card based on her sketch. Mikey and I are off to get ready to take Stephen to lunch for Father's Day. We let him sleep in, and are wrapping his gift as quietly as we can, although it's a bit of a challenge because Mikey is so excited about it all. LOL I hope all of the wonderful fathers out there have a fantastic day today! Hugs!

Unscripted Sketches #11

I had this scheduled to post this morning, but for some reason, it didn't work. Sorry! Happy Saturday everyone! It's that time of week again! I bring you the latest Unscripted Sketches sketch challenge! Again, this weeks sketch is fabulous! I love the versatility of all of them. I had to break out some of my new patterned paper I had been hoarding for this card. I wanted something simple, and I think I accomplished that. I hope you'll head over to the Unscripted Sketches blog to see what my fellow DT friends have created for you today. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time feasting your eyes on the gorgeous projects. I'm back!

Hello everyone! I've missed blogging, and uploading, and creating! It was a great trade this weekend though. I got to spend some awesome quality time with my sister and her hubby. I hadn't seen them since last summer so I was really excited to have them stay with me this past weekend. I'm sad that they're gone now, but had a blast while they were here. I will be back to posting regularly again now. Here are a couple pictures. Enjoy! Aren't they the cutest couple?! So adorable, and he's quite the awesome guy too! I will be back soon with something crafty! Thanks for all of your comments in my absence. I really appreciate all of them!

Hugs!

Color Dare #21 - Best Wishes

Woo hoo, it's Wednesday! Only two days until the weekend! Anyone have anything fun planned? It's going to be another hot weekend here in the Dallas area so I think we're headed to the pool. Today's Color Dare was a fun combo. Our colors are Riding Hood Red, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and any neutrals we choose. I normally forget to mention that you can use anything similar to the SU! colors listed. They don't have to be exact, just as close as you can get. Here is my card using THIS sketch. I love having the opportunity to use sketches with my CD projects. They're always much more interesting that way. My fellow Color Dare DT members have created some amazing projects for you today. I hope you'll head over and check them out. I know you won't be disappointed! Hopefully you'll play along with us too! Hugs, Supplies Paper: Shimmer White cardstock, SU! The Sweet Stop Sketch #8

Hi everyone! I hope you've had a wonderful weekend/week so far. I had a blast spending time with my sister and brother-in-law. I'm so glad they will be close enough to visit now! I created this card using Saturday's Sweet Stop sketch (#8). I again forced myself to use colors I wouldn't normally pair together. I think this card turned out a bit better than I expected. Love it when that happens! Hope you have a great day! Hugs,

Cuttlebug Spot #35 - Dad

It's Monday, which means it's time for another Cuttlebug Spot challenge! This week the challenge is to create a project for our dad's. I was done with all of my Father's Day cards, but a few extras won't hurt to have on hand. :) I didn't use any embossing folders for this card today. I used my Cuttlebug with my Nestabilities though. Hope you like it! I'm quite pleased with my outcome. It was fun, and simple to throw together. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! You should head over to The Cuttlebug Spot blog and check out what my fellow DT members have created for you. They're wonderful, as always! Have a great day! Unscripted Sketches #10

Yay, it's Saturday! This means it's time for another Unscripted Sketches sketch challenge! I have to say that I truly enjoy being a part of the US design team. Everyone is so kind, and sweet, and are all amazing artists. The sketches are fabulous, and allow you to use them in so many different ways. I feel really blessed to be a part of something so awesome. So, this weeks sketch was another wonderful sketch. At first I didn't really know what I wanted to do with it, but then I flipped it, and it was on! LOL Can you guess which stamps I used? :)
I included a close up of the butterfly so that you could see the layers. I stamped it three times and popped it up twice. I've had these papers in my stash for years and decided it was time to quit hoarding them. I love how the butterfly looks stamped onto the patterned paper.
I hope you'll head over to check out the Unscripted Sketches sketch today. I think you'll have a wonderful time playing along too! The DT have come up with some awesome projects for you also. If you'd like, you can click on their blog links on my sidebar for their project details.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Missing For A While

Hi ya'll! My sister and brother in law will be arriving tomorrow and I will be away from my computer until after they leave on Tuesday. I have my regular DT posts scheduled, but won't be on to comment on anyones creations until Wednesday or so. I've just joined Twitter and will be updating regularly throughout their stay! I hope you'll check back to see what I've got scheduled! I hope all of you have an amazing week! Much Love!

Color Dare #20 - Simply Fabulous

Hey ya'll! It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another Color Dare challenge! This weeks colors are Pacific Point, Bashful Blue, Cameo Coral and any neutrals. I have to admit that I struggled with these again. I'm not a fan of the corals, so I did my best to incorporate it. I didn't find any solid Cameo Coral paper in my stash either, so I improvised with some Raspberry Tart designer series paper I had. Here is my card using Laura's Sketch #27 at 2S4Y.

I wasn't sure I really liked the first card I made, so I tried again, using THIS sketch. I used a technique for both cards that I found on THIS blog. She's got some fantastic ideas! I stamped the script background first, then I stamped over that in VersaMark with a vine background and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then sponged on the lighter color. It's a fabulous idea and I love the results!

I hope you'll head over to The Color Dare blog and check out what my fellow DT members have created for you today. They're all really amazing! You can also click on their blog links on my sidebar for their project details.

Have a great day!

Cuttlebug Spot #34 - True Love

Hi ya'll! Have you ever created a project that you were just absolutely in LOVE with when it was finished? I seldom give myself credit for anything I create, but I have to say that I am completely head over heels in love with my card for today. The challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot this week is to create an Anniversary project. When I first started with this card, I had black and white out with a splash of green. It was a really pretty combination, but then I came across this piece of patterned paper from the Far East stack. I immediately switched focus and decided on the red, white and kraft combo instead. I'm SO happy that I did. This is the reason why. I paired this weeks challenge with THIS sketch, modifying it a bit to suit my liking. It worked out fabulously for me. I can only hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. Happy Anniversary to Nilda and her hubby who are celebrating 15 years this month! *hugs* Hugs, Supplies Paper: Red Shimmer, Kraft & White cardstock, DCWV Far East Stack Ink: Ranger Black Archival Ink, SU! Sunday Ramblings

Hi everyone!
I hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend! It has been a HOT weekend here and I'm doing everything possible to stay cool. We had originally planned to go swimming, but things didn't turn out how we had hoped. Instead, I spent a quiet weekend catching up on some DT projects for the next couple weeks.
I recently started trying to post something every day for all of you to enjoy. Unfortunately, with work getting busier, and traveling for my job, and then vacation, I won't have the opportunity to post as much. I will still try to do as much as I can, but I'm sure ya'll understand how busy life can get. I think I'm going to go through some old stuff and post those so you can see just how elementary my creative journey started out. I don't think I'm embarrassed by them as it's where everything began. I know some would have issues posting their early work, but I think it might be a good thing for those out there who are beginners. Through blogging, and the internet, and everyone's fabulous blogs, I am really happy that I have evolved from when I first started. I'd also like to say that I really appreciate all of you visiting my blog and always being so sweet and supportive. Paper crafting is one of the few communities I've found where everyone is truly supportive and happy of each other and I am so blessed to have made some awesome friends!
I have some exciting news to share too! I am the oldes of three siblings. Our family has always been really scattered, in terms of location. I've traveled and moved a lot for work, so I was always the furthest from my mom, sister and brother. I received news last week that my sister and brother in law will be moving to Austin next weekend. That means they will only be about 3 hours south of me. This is the closest family I've had in years! I'm absolutely thrilled to have my baby sister so close! They are such an awesome, beautiful couple too. They're moving to try and make a fresh start for themselves and I will pray that they land on their feet. If it's not too much trouble, I'd appreciate it you could say a prayer for them also. They are staying with me next weekend on their way down so I will be MIA for a few days. I'm SO happy and excited! It will be awesome!
Stephen and I will be celebrating two years together on the 23rd of this month. It's hard to believe how quickly the time has gone! He is still working full time and going to school full time so the amount of time we get to spend together is limited, but I keep reminding myself it's only temporary. He just recently passed all of his certifications (mechanic type stuff) and is doing really well with everything. I can't wait until November when he's done with everything though. It's been a bit rough. He's the best man I know, and I am truly blessed to have him, so I will continue to be strong and supportive of him. The fact that he has a beautiful, sweet, adorable 5 year old who keeps me laughing is a bonus! :)
Well, I think I've done enough chatting. I just wanted to share some info with you guys. I hope that you continue to have a wonderful weekend.
Much love,

Unscripted Sketches #9 - Sunsets

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend so far. It's Saturday so that means I have a new Unscripted Sketches sketch project for you. I've also got some exciting news! Please help me in welcoming our three new Unscripted Sketches designers, Keri Lee, Aymee & Sarah! These ladies are creative beyond belief and I know you're going to love their work as much as I do! I've been fortunate enough to have witnessed some amazing sunsets. I've lived in Texas most of my life, but I've also been in Denver and San Diego. I've had these photos for years, and I finally found the perfect opportunity to use them. Here is my project for this weeks sketch challenge. The top picture was taken out my backdoor in Denver, the middle picture was overlooking the beach in San Diego, and the bottom one was taken on a drive in the South Texas Hill Country. Aren't they pretty? I love them!

As you can see, I've used my new Verve stamps on this layout. I can't even begin to tell you how awesome these stamps are! I have a feeling you guys are going to be seeing a LOT more of them in my projects to come! I decided to pair this weeks sketch with Color Throwdown #44. The colors were So Saffron, Elegant Eggplant and Bordering Blue (which I substituted for what I had). I'm totally diggin' this sketch and I am really happy with my results. I also found a nice new spot to take my picture. :) I hope you'll check out what my amazing design team friends have created for you over at the Unscripted Sketches blog today. If you'd like, you can also click on their blog links on my sidebar for their project details. Have a great weekend!

Another Mojo Friday

Woo hoo, it's Friday!! :) It's going to be a hot weekend here in Texas so I have nothing planned but to sit at the pool for as long as I can! Hopefully I won't get "crispy" this year. LOL This is my take on this weeks Mojo Monday sketch. I'm glad I got the chance to play along again. I'm really loving my Verve stamps! Can you tell? LOL Back tomorrow with another Unscripted Sketches challenge project. Hope you'll check it out! Hugs,

Masculine Birthday

Hey ya'll! I'm happy to announce that I have created another masculine card. If any of you visit my blog often, I like to whine about having issues when it comes to creating masculing projects. I've decided to quit whining, and create them as a challenge to myself! This was a card I created for the President of our company's birthday. I think it turned out pretty nice. You can see that I've also challenged myself to use up some scraps I had. Does some of that stuff look familiar? LOL Don't forget to check back on Saturday for another Unscripted Sketches Sketch it Saturday! I really like my project. It's very bright and cheerful. Have a great day!
