Unscripted Sketches #8 - Happy Birthday

Hi everyone! It's Saturday, yay! I've begun to replenish my stock of all occasion type cards and am glad that I have such great sketches and color challenges to work with. I've also decided that I need to create more masculine cards, starting with today's Unscripted Sketch Challenge. As I've mentioned before, masculine cards are always very difficult for me. I always want to add bling, or flowers, or ribbon. I'm hoping to break out of that, and get quite a few done. This weeks sketch is fantastic! I can see using it over and over again. I love how Jenny and Sharon create these sketches. They have endless possibilities. So, here is my card based on this weeks sketch. Card Details 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 Bordering Blue cardstock, scored at 5 1/2. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss my piece of Brocade Blue patterned paper with the Houndstooth embossing folder. I then stamped the rows of black stars onto a strip of kraft cardstock. Again, thank God for my Stamp-a-ma-jig! I wouldn't be able to line anything up that nicely without it. I added white dots to the centers of the stars for added interest. I adhered the strip to the patterned paper and then cut out a "window" using my Labels1 Nesties. The frame around the window was also cut out using two of my Labels1 Nesties. It worked perfectly to give me just a little bit of shape to add around the window. I added the card front to the card base and stamped the sentiment in black inside of the window area. I then stamped the round tag sentiment in black onto kraft cardstock and punched it out with my Curly Label punch. I added a star brad and some white dots and adhered it with a pop dot. Easy and masculine! I try to create things that are easy to replicate so that anyone can create it. I really like how this card turned out. There has been a growing group of participants at the Unscripted Sketches site and we're thankful to all who join us! We wouldn't be able to continue to do this without you! I hope you'll head over there again today to see what beautiful creations my fellow DT members have created for you! Lots of eye candy over there today. If you'd like, you can also click on the DT's blog links on my sidebar for their project details. Have a fantastic Saturday! Supplies Paper: SU! Bordering Blue cardstock, SU! A Mojo Kind of Friday

Happy Friday ya'll! I got to play with this weeks Mojo Monday sketch, but didn't have the opportunity to photgraph it until last evening. I thought this weeks sketch was awesome! I'm pretty happy with my card too. Once again, I've decided to step outside my comfort zone and use colors I rarely use. This patterned paper is yummy though! Don't forget that tomorrow brings another Unscripted Sketches project, so I hope you'll be back to check it out. Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs!

Doin' the happy dance!

So about a month or so ago my friend PattiJ posted about her first Verve stamp order. I was so jealous! I'd been eyeing those beautiful stamps for ages! Julee's designs are gorgeous! When I got home from work this afternoon, this is what I was greeted with in the mailbox. I finally got my first order of Verve stamps!! I'm SO excited!! I can't wait to play with them! Oh my gosh, the ideas are just running through my head at warp speed! LOL I'm off to see what I can do with these babies! Have a fabulous evening! Hugs,

Love

Hey ya'll! It's funny how a new stack of patterned paper gets me excited. I had tried to keep myself from buying anymore paper, but I found this cute stuff at Michael's and HAD to have it! Honestly, I don't remember the last time I shopped at Michael's. Apparently it's better that I not go in there, ever. LOL I whipped up this cute little square card in no time at all. The stamps are from K & Co. and are adorable! I will definitely be using them often! Have a wonderful day!

Color Dare #18 - For You

Howdy ya'll! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Color Dare! This week Riley chose Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Lavender Lace, Real Red and any neutrals. At first I struggled trying to fit the red in with the other colors. Then, it hit me, and this is how I decided to use it. I had been saving up my design team cards so that I could give them to Stephen's mom as a gift before they moved. They were gifted in this. Pay no attention to the horrible looking tissue paper. I'm not as good with that as i am in creating the bags. LOL Project Details I started with a plain white gift bag from Michael's or JoAnn's. I stamped the Baroque Motifs flourish in Lavender Lace and added some of the flowers in Bashful Blue. I added the "with love" sentiment to the bottom right hand corner in Real Red. For the other sentiment panel, I stamped the sentiment from the Yummy stamp set in Real Red over the Baroque flourish that was stamped in So Saffron. I cut that out and embossed it with my rectangle Nesties, and double matted on Real Red and So Saffron. It was added to the bag with foam adhesive. For my knot at the top, I punched two holes. I threaded both ends of the So Saffron ribbon through the front, crossed them in the back, and then threaded it back through the holes. This is a really easy way to create beautiful knots. I trimmed the ribbon to the length I wanted and I was done. Stephen's mom loved her bag about as much as her cards. As I've said before, I really like making sure the gift bag or box looks as nice as the gift inside. Head over to the Color Dare blog to check out the wonderful projects my fellow DT members have created for you today. Hopefully, you'll play along with us too! If you'd like, you can also click on their blog links on my sidebar. Have a wonderful Wednesday! Supplies Paper: SU! Whisper White, So Saffron, Real Red cardstock Ink: SU! Friend to Friend

Hi everyone! I have a card for you that I made using a Cottage Cutz die that Nilda from The Cuttlebug Spot sent me. These dies are super cute and really easy to use. When I got it in the mail, I immediately knew I was finally going to get to use the brown beads I had been gifted a while back. They make the perfect center to the sunflower. I used THIS sketch and think it worked out great. It turned out cute! I hope you have a fabulous day today! I'll be back tomorrow with another Color Dare project. Much love!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #32 - True Friends

Good Monday to all! I hope everyone is enjoying their extra day off today! I know I sure am! I have a wonderful new Cuttlebug Spot challenge for you. This week our challenge was a color challenge. We were to use brown with either blue or orange. I bet you can guess which colors I chose, huh? Can't help it, I'm in love with the color blue! And, I am in love with this card! Check this one out! Card Details 11 X 4 1/4 brown cardstock, scored at 5 1/2. I cut down my blue and white patterned paper and distressed the edges with brown chalk ink. I matted that onto white cardstock and ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Leafy Branch embossing folder. I then stamped my sentiment in black onto another piece of blue patterned paper and double matted it in white and Close to Cocoa. I stamped a butterfly image onto white cardstock and then colored it with my Copic Markers. I found that the MS Elegant Butterfly punch worked perfectly to punch out the butterfly with the wing detail. You know how I love my butterflies! I added it to the cardbase with a pop dot and used some bling for its body. I used some brown fiber in an X pattern along the left side of the cardfront, and added my sentiment on top of that using pop dots. I then adhered the card front to the card base and added large rhinestones for some added interest. These colors are gorgeous together in real life. It's clean and simple. And, have I mentioned that I LOVE this card?! :) I hope you'll head over to The Cuttlebug Spot blog today to check out what my friends have created for you today. You can also click on their blog links on my sidebar for their project details. Back tomorrow with another something! Hugs, Supplies Paper: Brown and White cardstock, SU! Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week #25

Good day to all! This is going to be a quick post as I've been lazy and now need to hurry up and get ready for Stephen's birthday gathering today. This week Sparkle challenged us to use our favorite Christmas stamp. I couldn't pick just one so I combined two. The snowflake from the SU! set The Snowflake Spot, and the sentiment from a set of clear stamps I've had forever. You should head over to her blog and check out her adorable card. Maybe it will inspire you to start working on your Christmas cards too! Have a wonderful Sunday!

Unscripted Sketches #7 - Thank You!

Hey ya'll! It's time for another Unscripted Sketches Sketch It Saturday! This weeks sketch was a lot of fun for me. I've been trying to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to colors, and use a few that I don't normally like. Like the color orange. Orange is bright and cheerful, but I always have issues with it, and seldom use it. Fortunately, I found a butterfly stamp that I really liked, and colored it similar to a Monarch butterfly. The orange in the wings definitely helped me with this project. I wanted to make the butterfly pop, and hopefully look as beautiful as they are in real life. I hope you like it!

Card Details 4 1/4 X 11 Tangerine Tango cardstock, scored at 5 1/2. I ran my patterned paper through my Cuttlebug using the Birds and Swirls embossing folder and matted it onto white cardstock. I then stamped the Baroque Motif flourish in Baja Breeze onto the same colored cardstock, cut it down and punched the border with my scalloped border punch. I adhered that to my card front and then did the same with the yellow cardstock. I added white dots to each scallop for added interest, and then adhered white ribbon around the whole thing. I stamped my sentiment in black onto my card and adhered that to the card base. I stamped my butterfly in black onto white cardstock and colored it in with my Copics. I added a bit of sparkle to the antenna and body with my clear Stardust pen. I then cut out and embossed the image with my Nesties. I cut out a scalloped circel with my Nesties also and adhered Tangerine Tango ribbon to that, at an angle. I then adhered my image onto the scalloped circle with pop dots. I then added that to the cardbase. I think this card took me all of a half hour to put together. Quick and easy! :)

I hope you'll visit the Unscripted Sketches blog today and play along with us. My fellow DT members have created some amazing projects for you to see too! If you'd like, you can click on their blog links on my sidebar.

Have a wonderful weekend!

New Cuttlebug Spot DT Members!

Hi everyone! I just received a fantastic email stating we have five new Cuttlebug Spot designers! How exciting! I can't wait to see what amazing creations they come up with! I know you will all help me in welcoming them to the the group! Check out their blogs and leave them some love! Karen Marcelle Jeannie Kerri

Julie Thanks ya'll!

Hiya!

I don't have anything crafty for ya today, sorry. It's my end of month at work, and I have been crazy busy! I haven't really had the chance to create anything but my design team projects for this week. The weather has been fabulous, and I haven't wanted to be indoors much either. I will be back tomorrow with another Unscripted Sketches project. I hope you'll be back tomorrow to check it out! I've also chosen a new look for my blog. I know, I just changed it not too long ago, but I was envious of everyone else's cute blogs and couldn't stand it any longer. :) I'm really enjoying this new look. Nice and bright compared to the dark I had previously. What do ya'll think? I didn't have time to go through and change all of the link colors, but eventually I'm sure I'll get around to it. Sorry if you can't see some of them! Have a fabulous holiday weekend!

Color Dare Challenge #17 - Birthday Blessings

Woo Hoo! It's Wednesday! There are only two days until the weekend! I'm excited to share this card with you today. This is my project for this weeks Color Dare challenge. Riley chose Pink Pirouette, Elegant Eggplant, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose and any neutrals. I used THIS sketch this week, and am really happy with my results. This also happens to be my mom's birthday card. I hope she liked it as much as I did! Card Details 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4 1/4. My bottom layer is Regal Rose that I stamped with the Baroque Motif flourish. I LOVE this stamp! I just got it and have used it quite a lot lately. I then cut a strip of Elegant Eggplant and punched it with my SU! eyelet border punch. I added a strip of Pink Pirouette to that and ran it through my Cuttlebug with my Swiss Dots embossing folder. I then stamped the Baroque flourish again in Elegant Eggplant onto Whisper White cardstock, cut it down, and matted it onto some Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I stamped the tulips in black first onto some Pink Pirouette patterned paper, then again in Regal Rose onto textured white cardstock and cut out the bulbs. I added them with pop dots and then matted them on Kiwi Kiss also. Those elements were then added to the card using dimensionals. I traced around the tulips with my clear Stardust pen to give them some sparkle, and added a few pieces of bling to the flourish. My sentiment was stamped in Kiwi Kiss, cut out and then embossed with my rectangle Nesties. It was also added to the card with dimensionals. Overall this is a card I really had a fun time creating. The colors are amazing togehter and the sketch was perfect for it too. You can see my fellow DT members beautiful projects by clicking on their blog links on my sidebar. I hope you will head over to the Color Dare blog and play along with us this week. Back again tomorrow with another project! Have a fabulous Wednesday! Supplies Paper: SU! Color Throwdown #42 - King for A Day

Howdy! Today is my mom's birthday. I feel terrible that I didn't get the chance to go shopping for a gift. She did however get a really nice card. I'm hoping she'll forgive me and not be too upset that her gift arrives late. Much love to her. She's truly an amazing woman and I wouldn't be who I am today if not for her unconditional love and support. Love you mom!! I'm happy that I finally got to participate in a Color Throwdown challenge. I've wanted to join in each week, but haven't had the chance until now. The colors for challenge #42 were Tempting Turquoise, Black and So Safron. I only have Tempting Turquoise in marker form, so I improvised and used Cool Caribbean for the background. I hope they don't mind! I paired these colors with THIS sketch. This is the next of my Father's Day cards. I'm down to one left and then I need to replenish my stock of all occastion type cards. I'll be back tomorrow with another Color Dare project. I can't wait to share it! It's one of my favorites! Have a wonderful craftfilled day!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #31 - Happy Father's Day

It's Monday again! This of course means it's time for another Cuttlebug Spot Challenge! This week our challenge was to emboss on anything but paper. You can use anything you want, as long as it's not paper. For my project, I chose to emboss on a patterned transparency. I love this effect, and how the light shines off of it. I chose to create another Father's Day card so that I can stick to finishing them on time. Card Details 4 1/4 X 11 Sage Shadow cardstock, scored at 5 1/2. I cut out a square using my smooth Nesties, and adhered my embossed transparency to the inside. I rubbed a bit of white Staz On to enhance the pattern. I then added dots with my white gel pen around the frame. The sentiment was computer generated and printed onto Very Vanilla cardstock. I cut it out and embossed it using my Labels3 Nesties, and matted it onto a yellow circle also cut out with my Nesties. It was then adhered with pop dots. I punched a 3/4 circle in the Very Vanilla cardstock and adhered it to the back of my clear button. I poked holes and tied some twine through it. I really like doing this because it creates an embellishment that pulls everything together. I used my MS leaf punch and punched out some Old Olive leaves. They were added behind the button and I was done. Simple and easy, which seems to be a lot of what I create these days. I hope you'll join us for this weeks challenge. There are SO many things that can be embossed and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. The design team have come up with some amazing stuff as always to share with you. You can click on their blog links on my sidebar, or head over to The Cuttlebug Spot to see them. Back tomorrow with another something! Have a wonderful day! Supplies Cardstock: SU! Sage Shadow & Very Vanilla cardstock, JoAnn's Light Yellow cardstock, Patterned Transparency Ink: Computer Generated Accessories: Clear Button, Martha Steward Leaf Punch, Twine, Nestabilities, Pop Dots, Glue Dots

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week #24

Hey ya'll! I can't even begin to tell you how gorgeous it is outside today! It's about 65 degrees, sunny, and there's a slight breeze. The high today is only supposed to be around 73, so this is going to be a perfect day to play outside, and for a BBQ! Dinner will be served at 7pm, so start heading my way now! :) It's week 24 of Sparkle's Christmas card challenges. This week she challenged us to create a 3 X 6 card. I thought this was a very cool size. I'm going to also use this card for the Raspberry Suite Color challenge this week. The colors Dawn chose were brown, light aqua, coral pink and white. I'm quite happy with my lil card. You should head over to Sparkle's blog to see her beautiful card and play along! I'll be back tomorrow with another Cuttlebug Spot challenge. Unscripted Sketches #6 - I Heart You

Happy Saturday ya'll! :) I'm excited that the weekend is finally here! It's the beginning of produce season which means that my job becomes a lot more busy trying to find trucks for our orders. My stress level goes up, and everyone starts pushing for me to save as much money as I can, even though the rates are going up. Anyway, enough about that. It's another Unscripted Sketches Sketch It Saturday! I hope you'll get the opportunity to check out this weeks sketch and play along. It's another fabulous one! Here is my project. Project Details I started off with a solid light blue 12 X 12 sheet of cardstock. I stamped the Baroque Motif flourish all over it in light blue ink. I cut off about 1/4 on two sides and matted it to the white cardstock. I then stamped the Baroque flourish in green onto yellow cardstock and cut a strip. The strip was matted onto white cardstock and added to the page. I matted my photos on white cardstock and tied knots around the bottoms of each one with light blue ribbon. I created an embellishment by punching a 3/4 circle out of the yellow cardstock and gluing that to the back of a clear button. I tied a knot in the same light blue ribbon around the button and wire flower. That was the center between two white brads on the bottom right corner. The sentiment was stamped in black onto white cardstock, cut out and embossed with my classic smooth oval Nesties. I then cut out a scallped oval in the same yellow paper and matted the sentiment. It was then adhered to the page with pop dots. I stuck really close to this weeks sketch. I wanted the photos to be more of the focus on my layout. I think it turned out nicely. For my fellow DT members project details, you can click on their blog links on my sidebar. You should head over to the Unscripted Sketches blog and see what beautiful creations they have provided for you today. I'll be back again tomorrow with another Christmas card challenge project! Have a great day!

Just for You!

Hi everyone! I got busy last night and created a card for this weeks Cuttlebug-ers challenge over at Paper Craft Planet. The challenge was to use at least one Nestability Die, at least one Cuttlebug folder, sand the embossing, and color with a crayon. I couldn't find any crayons without raiding every room in the house, so I used an ink pad instead. I used the Serendipity embossing technique again for this card. I really like the technique, and the results are really cool. I'm pretty happy with these colors too. They work really well together. I'm so glad that I've got my mojo back. Now I'm off to finish some other projects! Don't forget that tomorrow is our next Unscripted Sketches sketch challenge! Have a good day!

Kids

Kids always seem to have a way of making us feel one of two things: really crazy or really blessed. Fortunately for me, my beautiful children get along pretty well, and they are generally good kids. I am truly blessed to have them! So instead of sharing something crafty today, I'd like to share one of my favorite photos of them. This was after 14 hours in a car on the way back from visiting my family in Northwest Iowa. They were quite the troopers! I can only hope that we are able to do everything possible to show them how much we love them. Thanks for letting me share. I've been so busy with work my creative mojo has disappeared. I am hoping to have something crafty for you tomorrow. Don't forget to check back on Saturday for another Unscripted Sketches sketch challenge. :) Hugs!

Color Dare #16 - Thinking of You

Hi everyone! I'm happy to bring you our next Color Dare Challenge! Today's challenge colors are: Rose Red So Saffron Sage Shadow Any Neutrals For my card, I used THIS sketch. I was going for a clean look so there isn't a lot of distressing or added embellishments. Card Details 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4 1/4. I started with a base of Sage Shadow that I stamped with my Vine background in VersaMark and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I then stamped the "frill" type border through the center of the Rose Red cardstock, and added some brads. To that I layered my So Saffron patterned paper that has a Whisper White border, punched with my Threading Water border punch. Once those elements were together, tied a knot around them with white ribbon. I stamped my flower in Rose Red and Sage Shadow onto Whisper White cardstock, then cut it out and embossed it with my rectangle Nesties. I added that to the card using pop dots. I then stamped my sentiment in black, cut it out and embossed it with my classic circle Nesties, and then distressed the edges with my Rose Red marker. I was going for more of a bold edge, rather than a slightly distressed edge. I added the sentiment with pop dots also and I was done! Whatcha think? I hope you'll head over to The Color Dare blog and play along with us this week. My fellow DT members have created some fabulous projects for you to see today. You can click on their blog links on my sidebar for their project details, or head over to The Color Dare blog to see them. I hope you'll visit me again tomorrow. Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #30 - Thank you!

Woo Hoo it's Monday! I bet you'd never dream of hearing someone say that, huh? LOL I'm really excited because today my promotion at work officially takes effect. This means I get to move into my new, beautiful, office! Oh the decorating possibilities! So yep, I'm excited today! :) Since it's Monday, today is also a new Cuttlebug Spot challenge! This weeks challenge is to use a frame or window on your card. I like these kinds of cards because it gives me so many ideas. Here is what I chose to do this week. I'm going to toot again because it turned out even better than I expected. I love this card! Card Details 4 1/4 X 11 Pale Plum cardstock, scored at 5 1/2. 4 X 5 1/4 black cardstock for the matte. I used a piece of patterned paper with butterflies (even though you can't see them that well) from the Far East Stack for my card front. I ran it through my CB using the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I then used my Labels1 Nesties to cut out the "window". I added a strip of black cardstock, I punched with a flower border and layered onto blue cardstock, and adhered with silver square brads. I lined up the cardfront with the cardbase exactly how I wanted it, and stamped the sentiment in the "window". Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my Stamp-a-ma-jig? LOL I then added the cardfront with pop dots. I layered some prima flowers, adhered with glue dots and pop dots, and added bling centers. I then punched out some leaves using my MS punch and added them. For the last added detail, I punched out an MS butterfly and added some bling for the body, adhered with a tiny piece of pop dot. You can't really see the butterflies on the patterned paper, or the way it fades from pink to lavender to blue. It really is gorgeous in real life. My fellow DT members at The Cuttlebug Spot have done a fantastic job in creating some beautiful projects for you today. You can head over to The Cuttlebug Spot or click on their blog links on my sidebar to check them out. I really hope you'll join us in this fun challenge today! So far, so good on posting daily. I should be back tomorrow with another project for you to see! Have a wonderful day! Supplies Paper: SU! Unscripted Sketches 05 - Faith, Hope, Love

Thank goodness it's Saturday! Has anyone else had a long week? I thought Saturday would never arrive!! I'm so excited to bring you this weeks project for Unscripted Sketches. I have to admit this sketch is fabulous! It allows for so many possibilities! You should head over there to check it out as quickly as you can! You'll be really happy that you did! Don't forget to scroll down to my first post for today to find out who won the blog candy! :) Card Details 11 X 4 1/4 kraft cardstock, scored at 5 1/2. The base is a piece of cardstock from the Far East stack that I ran through my Cuttlebug with my Stylized Flower embossing folder. To that I added a strip of lavender cardstock that I punched with my Scalloped border punch and embossed with my Swiss Dots embossing folder. I distressed the dots so they'd stand out, and I also distressed the edges of the card front. I tied a knot around everything with some white organza type ribbon, and added it to the card base. To that I added another piece of cardstock from the Far East stack that I stamped with my Bamboo stamp in green. I distressed the sides of that also. I layered that onto the card, stamped my sentiment in black onto a piece of kraft cardstock and distressed the edges of that too. The sentiment was added to the card with pop dots for some dimension. I then punched out some butterflies, distressed them, and then outlined the wings of the bigger one with my clear Stardust pen for some added interest. The two small ones were adhered with pop dots, and the bigger one was adhered with a glue dot. I bent up the edges of their wings, and added some bling for their bodies. Easy! Not too shabby, eh? I'm really happy and excited and thankful that so many of you have supported us by playing along each week! We Have A Winner!

Wow! What an amazing time I've had reading through all of your comments! To reach 10,000 blog hits was unbelievable to me, but to have another 5,000 in just two weeks is amazing! I'm hoping that you will come back and vistit my blog again. You never know what I might want to celebrate, or when! I have to say that it took me quite a while to write down over 900 names on strips of paper. LOL I even stayed up so that I could post this live! Thanks again to everyone who participated! So, it's now 5/9 and we have a winner! Here is the name that my friend Ed drew out of the box! Roxx said... Love your Blog tittle! I found your blog because Chic N Scratch mentioned it on her e-mail. I'm pretty new at surfing blogs.I can't believe what I've been missing out on.Congrats on your 10,000 blog hit's. I look foward to subscribing and reading all your archives. Now if I can tear myself away from the computer and make somthing ....that would be great. 4/30/09 12:55 PM Congratulations Roxx!! Please send me an email by Monday, 5/11, so that we can work out the details. If I haven't heard from Roxx by Monday evening, I will choose another winner! Hugs to all!
