Which means, I'm happy, in English. I just got my new stamps from my January SU! Stamp Club. I ordered both Felicidades Siempre and Dias Felices. I work for a Mexican snack food company, and we speak Spanish most of the day, so these will be put to good use! Now I can make cards that they actually understand! LOL
This is my card for Monday's Cuttlebug challenge over at PCP. The challenge this week is to emboss on chipboard or grungeboard. The chipboard flourish was painted with white acrylic paint and run through my Cuttlebug, using the Script embossing folder. I then distressed it with Ruby Cat's Eye Chalk Ink. I had to change up the "sandwich" a bit so that it would fit through my CB though. It all came together quite easily after I figured that out. I'm also going to use this for Stamp Simply #72, Love of any kind card. The sentiment says "Happy Valentine's Day" in Spanish.
I'm so excited that SU! has these wonderful stamps in Spanish. I'm going to have a blast using them! :)
Have a great evening!
I've been super busy, so I didn't get the chance to do any crafting during the week. I finally sat down yesterday around 9pm and put this together for this weeks Mojo Monday sketch. I must say I'm surprised this card even turned out. See, I have absolutely NO skill whatsoever when it comes to making or tying bows. I've watched tons of tutorials, and I've tried, and tried, and I am still completely clueless as to how to get my bows to look all big and beautiful. *pout* So, after fighting with this bow for what seemed to be forever, I finally won and am ok with the results. Go me! LOL I will just have to keep trying, I guess! I kept this card very simple, and am happy with it. I'm trying to use up my scraps, and I wanted to try again with the "white space" kind of thing.
I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
Hugs,
I have to say that I'm really liking this card. I struggle so often with masculine cards, but this one just kind of came to me. I'm not sure if the polka dots are "manly", but I like the results of the card. He'll just have to get over it if he doesn't like the dots. LOL This is my take on OCCC's sketch challenge. I cut out the guitars and pop dotted them, along with the star, and sentiment circle. The paper I used is from the DCWV Rockstar Stack. It's shiny and very pretty in real life. I distressed the circle while it was still in my Nesties die, and I really like the effect. I'm not sure where I saw this done, but thank you to whomever it was! If someone knows, please send me a message so that I can update with who to give credit to.
Much love,
Hey ya'll!
I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend! I'm finally getting to post my stuff! This card is really different for me. It's got lots going on, and I am not used to having that many layers on my cards. LOL I am very happy that I got the results I did from the embossing resist technique though. This is my card for the two challenges listed below.
PCP Color Challenge - Kraft, Elegant Eggplant, Certainly Celery, Old Olive(I substituted Wild Wasabi) and White or Vanilla.
I {heart} 2 Stamp - Sketch For You To Try
Hope everyone has a great day!
Hello everyone!
We're now at week #8 of Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge! This week Sparkle challenged us to make square cards. These are my cards for this week. I'm trying to use up more of my scraps, and I'm trying to force myself into using more white space. I have a hard time with white space. LOL
For all of the details of this challenge and to play along, check out Sparkle's BLOG. She's got some wonderful creations over there!
Hope that you'll be able to participate!
Hugs,
I love this weeks Mojo Monday sketch! I was looking for a way to make a few little Valentine's for my team members at work, and this sketch looks like it's going to work perfectly! My card is 4X4, and I'm going to prop them up, with a goodie, on each persons monitor that Friday morning.
I stepped outside of my comfort zone a little bit with this card. I don't normally have this much dimension on my cards. Most are only two layers, usually. I used my CB to emboss the base of the card, and I wrapped some fiber around it. The scallop circle and the sentiment label were cut with my Nesties, and the Baja Breeze piece is embossed with Versa Mark and clear embossing powder. The edges are distressed with a bit of Baja Breeze ink. Everything is layered with pop dots so the card has a lot of dimension and I like it, a lot!
If you haven't checked out the Mojo Monday sketch blog yet you should. It's fabulous, and all of the cards submitted each week are beautiful! You can get there by clicking on the Mojo blinkie on my sidebar.
I'm also going to submit this for Papertake Weekly's challenge this week. The challenge was to use three different shapes on your card.
Hope everyone has a wonderful evening!
...with this card! Very seldom do I create something that I am absolutely in love with. Normally, I think my stuff is ok, but not this card. I think it's absolutely beautiful. The white shimmery cardstock with the embossing, and the embossed patterned paper, it's just perfect! This card was not created for any challenges, it was just an idea I had in my head. I think I'm going to emboss and distress my patterned paper a lot more. I love the effect.
Have a good evening!
Tomorrow is my co-workers birthday. I completely forgot until my Outlook popped up a reminder for me today. This is also going to be my submission for this weeks challenge over at CPS. The challenge was to choose one of the previous 99 sketches. My choice was Sketch #22. I like the circles, and I had paper and my Swiss Dots embossing folder that I wanted to use for it. I'm also going to use it for this weeks Stamp Something Challenge, Birthday Somethings. I hope he likes it!
Thanks for stopping by!
Wow, it's hard to believe we're at week 7 already! I have to say, making my Christmas cards this way has been SO much easier and stress free. I'm glad that I am able to participate in this challenge every week. It helps me use up a lot of my stash, and I don't feel the urgency to hurry up and make a lot of Christmas cards all at once. Thanks a bunch Sparkle, for doing this challenge! You rock! You can see all of our cards from each week, along with her other fabulous creations on her BLOG. You should check it out, and play along!
This week Sparkle challenged us to use liquid applique on our cards. I didn't have any, so I substituted with Diamond Glaze. The snowman and the hearts are covered in DG and in real life are really puffy and shiny. You can't really tell from the picture, but it was really windy out again and I had to take what I could get. LOL These cards are smaller also. I am going to hand deliver them to my co-workers. I used my Nestabilities, including my NEW Labels 1! Love them!!
Have a great day everyone!
When I saw the stamp set "Tart and Tangy" in the SU! catalog, I just absolutely had to have it. I bought it months ago, and this is the first time I've ever used it. I'm not sure what ideas I had in my head when I needed it, but they kinda disappeared, until now. This is my submission for the two challenges listed below.
OCCC Emboss Resist - I've wanted to try this for a while now. I embossed the "grapefruits" on white cs and then sponged on Kiwi Kiss ink.
Papertake Weekly - Sketch #6
Have a wonderful day!
I got the second part of my Christmas present from Stephen today, by way of the UPS man (love him!). When I returned from having lunch with Stephen, there was a nice little box sitting on my desk. I wasn't expecting anything because Spellbinders said my item was backordered until the end of January. I was very surprised when I opened the box and found these! Isn't it awesome to get new toys?! I have been waiting for these pretties for SO long! I cannot wait to play with them this weekend!!
Have a wonderful evening ya'll!

It was Steph to the rescue again when one of my co-workers asked for help for his son. He said that his son doesn't like to give Valentine's at school because all of the "commercial" type Valentine's are too girly for his tastes (he's 10, LOL). So, I whipped these up for them the other day. I LOVE this paper from the DCWV Rockstar Stack. We'll see if he likes them. I thought they turned out quite cute. Love the skull and crossbones!
Have a fabulous evening!
I've had this set of video game embellishments for quite a while now. Not knowing exaclty what I was going to do with them, I just stuck them in a drawer somewhere. When I saw this weeks Mojo Monday sketch, I knew I wanted to do with one of them. I'm not sure what it was about this weeks sketch, but I wanted something different, and quirky. Stephen, Sydney, Mikey, my sister, her hubby, Stephen's mom and sister, are all video game fanatics! I got to thinking about everything, and I realized that most of the people I love the most, are in fact nerds. And I {heart} nerds!! With that being said, I wonder which one of them will guess who this Valentine belongs to. *wink*
Have a fantastic evening!
...to the monochromatic thing! Ugh, I can't seem to stop! And I had been scared to try this for so long. Pfft! What the heck was I thinking?! Anyway, here is my next monochromatic project. It is my take on this weeks sketch over at PCP. I think I will have to do two, ok three...no wait, four more of these monochromatic babies, at least! I've got plenty of coordinating scraps!! LOL
Have a great evening ya'll!
Up until my last card, I hadn't done anything monochromatic. I really liked how it turned out, so I decided to try it again, using violet. I'm hooked! In keeping with my goal to use up more scraps, and other items that I've had for a while but never use, this is what I came up with. You can't really tell, but the background paper is metallic and shiny. I also used patterned paper that had really pretty silver stripes in it. The flowers all have bling centers also. This is the most bling I have ever used on a card! LOL Below is the list of challenges I will be using this card for.
ABC Challenge - V is for Violet
CPS Sketch #99
Have a great afternoon!
I started off with an idea for one challenge, and when I was done, I realized that it met the requirements of three other challenges. Woo Hoo! I LOVE blue, and this card. Pacific Point is becoming one of my favorite colors very quickly. I will have to re-order more cardstock and ribbon before it is a retired color! Below is a list of the three challenges I will be participating in with this card.
OCCC Color Challenge - Use two shades of blue and a neutral.
Stamp Something - No Stamping, sentiment is a sticker.
Papertake Weekly Seeing Spots - Use spots, dots or circles.
Jazzy Inspirations #3 - Kind of Blue, monochromatic blue and white.
I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!
We're at week six for Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge! This week she challenged us to make cards without using red or green. I welcomed this challenge as I have NO problem using non-traditional colors on my Christmas cards. I think these turned out very nice. You should come check out this challenge, and play along! It's a great idea and helpful in getting all of your Christmas cards done ahead of time. Sparkle is amazingly creative and she's got some other neat stuff on her blog. You can see her blog HERE. Hope you get the chance to play along!
Have a great day!
I've wanted to play along with the Mojo Monday sketches for a while now, but was very intimidated by everyone else's amazing submissions, and I hadn't been able to because of my crazy work schedule. After thinking about it, I decided that the only way to get over the intimidation was to jump right in and play along. So I made some time for myself during the week, and this is what I came up with. The wind was blowing quite a bit today so it took me forever to get this picture, and I'm a bit disappointed that you can't see the sparkle on the bird or the flourish where the sentiment is. The brads are also sparkly. I love these papers together, and I'm happy with my results. It's beautiful in real life. I'm glad I took the dive into the Mojo goodness! LOL I'm sure I will be back next week with another submission.
Have a great weekend everyone!
My co-worker recently lost his brother, so I wanted to make a card to let him know we were keeping him and his family in our thoughts. I always have a very difficult time making masculine cards. I'm not sure why it is so difficult for me, but I always struggle to accomplish anything masculine. This is the final result, and I have to say, I'm pretty happy with it. My team members all loved it, and wanted to sign it too. So, I went ahead and made it a card from "all of us". He really enjoyed the card, but said it meant more to him that we went the extra little bit to show him we cared. I'm glad he liked it!
Hugs,
I have a friend who absolutely LOVES the color lime green. I find that a bit odd, but to each their own. She was nice enough to help me recently, so I decided to send her a quick thank you note. I used Kazan's Sketch #17 at 2 Sketches 4 You as the layout for this cute little 3 X 5 card. I toned down the lime green with baja breeze, and added a flower, a button and some ribbon. The colors are very vivid in real life. I hope she likes it!
Have a great evening!
When I left for work this morning, it was about 36 degrees, and falling. When I left work this afternoon, it was still at 36 degrees. Now I know that's not freezing, but it was cold enough that the trees in my backyard had ice on them. This is the first time it actually looks like winter to me here in the Dallas area. I know most of you in the North and Midwest are probably begging for more of the 70 degree weather we've had, and are expecting later in the week, but it just doesn't feel like the holidays without cold weather. I heard that we should wake up to ice in the morning, but it will all melt quickly and we're back up to 60 and 70 degree weather by the end of the week. If you're in my area, I hope you're staying nice and warm, and cozy. What a great night for hot chocolate!!
I've been busy today! Here is my take on this weeks sketch at i {heart} 2 stamp. It is also my submission for this weeks Stamp Something challenge where we were to use something new. I used my new itty bitty Prima's. Aren't they adorable?! Love them!
Also, I forgot to mention earlier that I am officially an aunt again! Stephen's sister gave birth early this morning to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. Congrats to Mary-Ruth and Brian! I know they will be excellent parents. We're all very excited to welcome him! I'm glad I'm over my sinus infection so that I can go see baby E soon.
I will most likely be back during the week to post some more goodies. I hope everyone has a fantastic evening!
One of my favorite color combinations is pink and black. I don't use them together that often, but I think I should start! Did I mention that I LOVE these colors together! LOL This is my submission for this weeks challenge over at Card Positioning Systems (CPS). I decided to go with a smaller card too. It's 4 1/4 X 4 1/4. I think it's perfect to hand deliver to someone. :)
Back again later!
I've now moved from Christmas cards, finished up all of my Thank You's and have now begun my Valentine's Day cards. This is the first of several that I need for this year. It is my take on this weeks Sketch Challenge over at Our Creative Corner and Melanie's Sentiment Challenge at PCP. I very rarely use a white card base, but am challenging myself to use more white space, and also to use up my scraps as often as possible. I'm sure I'll be back later with another Valentine, as I have a list of challenges I want to accomplish today.
Thanks for stopping by!
We're at week 5 for Sparkle's Christmas Card challenge. You can check out the challenge, and everyone's cards HERE! The idea is to create two Christmas cards each week so that by the time December rolls around again we'll have a nice stock of Christmas cards ready. This is a fabulous idea because then I won't have to hurry, or rush around, trying to get them all done!
Why not join us and play along? Sparkle has issued a challenge to all of us playing along for next week. I'm excited, as I have NO problem making Christmas cards in non-traditional colors. :)
Have a great day!
