CCNOV2908 - Cheers!

Here is my submission for this weeks Color Challenge over at Paper Craft Planet. I'm new to PCP, and this is my first challenge submission. We were to use the colors listed in the swatch. I found a piece of patterned paper that had similar colors in it and kind of went from there. I used my So Swirly jumbo roll stamp in Riding Hood Red along the left side, and also matted the patterned paper in the same color. I then added the sentiment stamped in a similar teal colored ink, and distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and pop dotted it to the patterned paper. The ribbon was added and then mounted on the kraft colored card base. To top it off I used my glitter pen to add some sparkle to the dots in the stamped image along the left side, and I added clear gems to the center of the snowflake and to the centers of the flowers. Enjoy!

Anyone Want Some Candy?! Blog Candy That Is...

I need your help! I'm trying to find an idea for a gift bag of handmade goodies for my daughters' teacher. This is my first time doing something like this, and her teacher is male. I'm completely lost, and I have no idea where to even begin. Post a comment with your idea and I will choose one. If your idea is chosen, I've got a great gift bag for you in return! Woo Hoo! I've got some blog candy to give away!! Thanks!

Thankful for My Health

I could stand to lose a few pounds. And I could exercise and eat healthier, but all in all, I'm in good health. I'm thankful that the medical problems that run in our family history haven't affected me. I'm not going to say that I haven't had any problems, but I'm grateful that I haven't had any major issues. I suppose it's time that I start thinking about doing the things I mentioned so that I make sure I am around to watch Sydney and Mikey grow up. I don't want to miss a minute of that! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thankful for My Job

For those of you who do not know what I do, I am the Logistics Manager for a Mexican snack foods company. I love my job, but I am responsible for about $60M in freight a year. I used to think that I was overworked, and that everyone kept adding to my workload. These days, I am just thankful to have a job. Yes, I have a lot of responsibility. Yes, I am always stressed out from the time my phone rings in the morning until I get home at night. Yes, there are days I go to work and return home in the dark, but I have learned not to complain. With everything happening at this point in our lives, I am appreciative to be able to get up and go to a job. I am not taking anything for granted anymore and I am grateful that my company is doing well. My team is amazing, and after years of working with them, they are like family. Thank God for the humor they bring me on a daily basis. Without them, I don't think I would make it through the day or look forward to coming everyday. I have worked hard to get to where I am and I am blessed to have the stability and position that I have. Thank God that we continue to grow in a time of uncertainty!

Two For One!

Here is my submission for two challenges this week.
Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #32 was to use the colors above. You can't really tell from the picture, but the paper with the music notes on it has a bit of sparkle to it. I was just happy that this paper was close enough to the color in the swatch because I really wanted to use it. LOL
Chirper Challenge #9 was to include stripes, a musical theme, and foam. I didn't have any foam, so I used pop dots for the sentiment to raise it off the card a bit and make it look like a tag under the bow. I also made my own stripes with Versa Mark and white cardstock, using the embossing resist technique from Jennifer McGuire. I then went over the whole piece of white cardstock with Riding Hood Red ink so the "stripes" showed through. I'm very happy with my results.
Have a great day!

Thankful for Stephen

I know that my honey is considered family, but I think he deserves an entire post, all about him! Stephen is the most amazing man I've ever met. He's the first person I've ever dated that had all of the qualities I said I wanted in a person. He's very tolerant of my fiestiness (which we all know I excel at), and the fact that my job adds to my stress level quite often. He's never turned me away when I've needed him. He's very laid back, and is always there for balance to my crazy life. He allows me to be myself, and do the things I want and like to do, without question. He shows me unconditional love and allows me to love him unconditionally in return. He is supportive, and has always encouraged me to do the things that make me happy. He is an all around good guy and I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world! Above everything he brings to my life, he does the same for his son and is a wonderful father. He's a single father, so I know it's difficult for him at times, but he does an outstanding job. His schedule is very busy, so he does his best to make time for everyone who is important to him. I don't worry about time at this point. When he's done with school, and able to do what he enjoys, it will be worth all of the sacrifices we had to make along the way. I hope that he knows how much I love him and how proud I am of him, and I hope that I have enriched his life as much as he has mine. I truly believe the song below goes well with this post, and says a lot. Enjoy! Beyonce - Flaws and All Have a wonderful day!

One of My Favorites

I wanted to share one of my favorite Thanksgiving cards for this year with you. It's amazing how something so simple can turn into something so beautiful. These colors are so very warm and "comfy" feeling. They remind me of the colors I see when visiting my mom in the midwest this time of year. I made this for some very good friends of mine to show just how much I appreciate them. I hope they enjoy receiving these as much as I enjoyed making them. Thanks for stopping by!

Thankful for Family

It's Thanksgiving week, so I've decided to do daily postings of what I am thankful for. I am thankful for my family. I have many friends that I consider family, so this includes them as well. I am very close to my family and I am very blessed that they are as wonderful as they are. Without them, I would not be the person I am today. They show me everyday how it feels to be loved unconditionally. They are supportive of all of my decisions, whether they think they are good or bad. They are non-judgemental, and are there to help me pick up the pieces if I make the wrong choices. I would do anything for my family, and I don't know what I'd do without them. Thank God for them! Have a great day!

Chocolate Anyone?

Aren't these colors wonderful for a Christmas card?! I just love the way this card turned out. The colors are warm and very non traditional, yet they're still beautiful together. It was inspired by one of my co-workers. Her favorite color is brown and she asked me to put something together for her . The only requirement was that the color brown be present somewhere on the card. I don't think she'll have to worry about the color brown missing from these cards. LOL I'm loving my new Nestabilities too! I've waited so long for a set, and I can't stop using them now that I have them! They Rock!!

Have a great evening!

Stephen's First Card

I got an email from Stephen today that had a lot of excitement in his words, if that makes sense. He had made his very first card and he was so proud of himself. He stated that he had a choice between Salsa Dancing skeletons with high heels or roses, so he went with the roses. He said they were more "manly" than the skeletons, although I would have thought skeletons would have been more manly. I guess the high heels changed that real quick. So, being the wonderful, loving, caring, never miss an opportunity to poke fun at him, kind of person that I am, I had to post this immediately! I couldn't miss the opportunity to give him a bit of a hard time, but I think he did well, for this being his first card. In all actuality, I'm surprised it doesn't have anything XBox 360 related, or anything having to do with Star Wars or cars. They must have had limited supplies. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next! Have a great afternoon!

Greetings!

So I've been neglecting my blog lately. Work seems to consume every waking moment of my life right now. We're getting to the end of the year, and things always get crazy busy about this time. I just wanted to share some pictures with everyone. These cards are the ones I've chosen to teach for a Christmas card class next week. I'd like to extend my thanks to Jennifer McGuire for the tutorial on the gift card holder. I loved the idea, so I'm really looking forward to sharing it with my students. The other is simple, very traditional, and looks like a Christmas card should.
I'm not sure how often I will be able to post, but I'll do my best to keep everyone updated, and share my new creations as I have time.
Thanks for stopping by!

My New Haircut

As promised, here are pictures of my new haircut. The top picture (with Tim Holtz) is before, and the bottom one was taken this morning. My hair was just past the middle of my back and always up in a clip. It is now a bit past my shoulders, with lots of layers and volume. I LOVE IT! Just a side note, I've updated my profile picture so that everyone can see my sweetheart, Stephen. It was taken this afternoon at his parents house. Have a great week ya'll!

You Say It's Your Birthday? Well It's My Birthday Too!

Today was an awesome day! Becky, the wonderful person that she is, took the day off with me so we could spend the day shopping and hanging out. We did lots of shopping and I got TONS of new goodies to play with. I also got my long awaited haircut! I will post pictures of my before and after when I get the opportunity. I'm now 33, and I couldn't be more happy with my life. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! Hugs!

Happy Early Birthday to Me!

The Logistics team here is wonderful! Do they know me or what?! I got to work this morning and this was waiting for me on my desk! I'm off tomorrow for my birthday, so they surprised me a day early. Of course, it was wrapped, but it didn't take me long to tear it open! LOL They are so much fun to work with, and are the most caring, amazing co-workers I've ever had. I truly enjoy being a part of the team. I can't wait to go home and play with all of my new goodies now! Is it 5:00 yet???!!!

Color Inspiration #29

Here is my submission for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #29. The colors were truly a challenge to work with for me this week. I never would have thought of putting these colors together, but they are very pretty on a card or scrapbook page. Since the colors are very rich, I kept the card very simple. I versa marked on the Pumpkin Pie cardstock before adding the other layers to the card. I stamped the sentiment in Pacific Point, and then layered that with my new, very first, set of Nestabilities. I LOVE them!
Hope everyone has a great day!

For Brian

We received news on Sunday that Brian's father had passed away. I'm sure he will be missed. This is the card I made for him. We will continue to keep Brian and his family in our thoughts.

End of Month is Finally Over!

It's the beginning of November and another end of month closing is finally over at work! Thank God! We continue to get busier, and busier, which is good because we're in the snack industry. Unfortunately, the busier we are, the more work I get to do. I'm very sad that our team (Logistics), is losing our assistant. She was a temp, and we knew the day would come when she was no longer with us, but I hate to see her go. I, for one, will definitely miss her. :( One of the good things about the beginning of November is that my birthday is coming up! When I turned 30, I didn't really have any issues with my age. Now that I'm going to be 33, and another year closer to 40, I'm starting to freak a little bit. I'm not really sure why, but I am. I guess it's because no matter what I do, I am still getting older every day. I hope everyone has a great week!
